LADY RAIDER BB Middle Tennessee (17-6, 9-1) vs Kennesaw State (8-13, 3-7) (ESPN+), 5PM, Saturday, February 8, 2025

McClinic enjoyed a stellar career at Middle Tennessee State where she was the 2004 Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year and led the Blue Raiders to consecutive conference crowns in 2004-05. She graduated with the most games played (120) in program history and ranked second in career steals with 246. As a team captain, McClinic's Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year award was buoyed by the fourth-most steals per game (3.5) in the NCAA. As a senior, she helped the Blue Raiders upset 12th-ranked North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

It was a very complete game on offense. Defense was spectacular in the first half. I thought they might hold them to single digits in the first half. Except for some fouls shots, they would have as they held them to 11 points in the first half.

Have to give kudos to CAB for really getting it together from the PG position. After that WKU loss and a few rough games early in the nonconference, she has not only become a legit scoring threat but really worked hard to get the team working on offense. Tonight was a great example of that and I'm very excited to see how they do against WKU next Saturday.

Lady Raiders currently setting with the #51 net ranking. Tomorrow we should get into the 40's for the first time.
Would like to see 5,000 in the Murph next week. Team is starting to smell blood. Believe they will destroy Tops in next matchup.

Raiders jump to #49 Net Ranking. Important to stay on this trajectory to get into the 30's by NCAA Tournament time. Definitely want to avoid a 13-16 seed to not play a home based seed in first round. If we keep winning & keep climbing we should be in line for a 11 or 12 seed.
Just checked, even now ESPN has us as a 12 seed playing in the Knoxville bracket. They have Belmont as the #13 seed playing the #4 Vols in opening round.

The ideal seed IMO is #12, so you don't play the higher seed in the first game - like last year's win over Louisville.

I would like to see the women change their ncaa playoff format. Do not like seeing top 16 seeds getting 2 consecutive home games. I understand it's a huge money maker, but makes the game extremely unfair.
Wouldn't mind the top 32 teams getting 1 first round home game, & after that all remaining games go to regional format. If something like that had been allowed the Lady Raiders could have had multiple 1st round ncaa games at home over the years, & from there allow neutral sites to pave the way for the victors.
This would make for a much less biased format IMO.
