It was very emotional. Reggie Upshaw is basically the cornerstone of our emergence as a program to be reckoned with. I remember watching him his freshman year. Kind of lost but very athletic. You just knew over time we had a potential good one. You also were relieved that it was a freshman which was rare.
He and Giddy have been something special. Great stories. I saw a back court last night that was the toughest I have seen in the Kermit era. Both can take it to the rim and hit the three. Their backups are good too. We have a great presence inside as well. Walters is a huge specimen that gets better and better every time I see him. He provides good depth and has the potential to be a dominant inside guy next year.
I was glad to see Giddy not come out for senior night last night. That tells me he will be back next year....whew!!
I watched our team play dominant defense last night. I am not scared of playing anyone next week. We have the talent and experience to win the C-USA tournament next week if that is what they choose to do. If they make the NCAA.....I feel sorry for who is in our bracket. We are good and have the back court to go deep.
Great and lively crowd last night. My son and I wanted to watch Upshaw come off the court for the last time.
