FOOTBALL Fall Camp, 2021

He needs to prove himself as a legit D1 coordinator before there's any talk of a head coaching gig.

Dearmon hasn't done anything yet. I like his approach and he can obviously recruit, but I'm not going to put him a pedestal. Not even close. Results at Kansas were poor and he hasn't even coached a game here yet. He has a lot to prove. He's just as likely to be fired in 2 years as he is to be promoted.
I hear you definitely. I think the Kansas thing was a bust because of all of the drama with Miles. A lot of crap was happening behind the scenes there. Dearmon's demeanor here is very different which is why he got the hell out of Kansas when he got the chance. I just like his approach and attitude.

Yep. And I bumped those old threads to make a point. Stock and McDevitt are both being paid very well to say all the right things at those Blitzes. Same for CM. But the fact remains that we have become bottom feeders in our two major sports, not just nationally, but in our own conference. I still vividly remember Stock making a statement at a BRAA get together in the HOF building on signing day back in 2011 or 2012. He’s there to pump the program but instead downplayed the signees and said that none of them would contribute for a couple of years.
Now, after no conference title for 15 years, two straight losing seasons and multiple bowl beatdowns I’m supposed to believe his rah-rah stuff.
Maybe when he and this staff can produce on the field I’ll come back.

Alignment and assignment football. Separates from the men from the boys. The hard workers from the lazy. The champion from the runner-up.

Polly can sit here and talk a lot about fundamentals but I feel it's definitely something we have lacked in previous years, across the board.

I'm anxious to see how our special teams does this year.

Stock already has Brent using the “C” word. And all the “Polly leverage/ fundamentals coachspeak” means nothing at the end of the day unless your guys can just line up where they are supposed to and knock the living sh*t out of somebody.

I have a real concern about Brent being the WR coach with no WR experience. There's so much more to playing WR than meets the eye and he's never played the position so how does he know all these things? Leverage, pad level, squaring up, hand techniques, blocking techniques, when to swim or rip, and so on and so forth.

I hope he learned a lot about the position while @ USF. We have the deepest WR corp in Stockstill's tenure here. There's not a Richie James amongst them, but there's about 8 of them that could start and play at a high level.

I said this when he was hired and got ripped, but carry on. I like the analysis.

My concern went away when he talked Ali and Piecre into staying. Obviously they trust him which is all that matters.

He’s got a great football mind so I see it as a non issue. I worry more about having the son as a position coach of a program that’s underperformed. If we were coming off back to back conference championships its no big deal. He’s had to work on routes and timing at the QB position which will really help. Also coaching WR along with RB would qualify as a couple easier spots to coach To be honest.

I said that about him being the coaches son as well and that really set off some people.

We shall see. I like his energy and I think he's an upgrade over Silvoy. Brent is 3 times the athlete Silvoy was and knows how to lead better. He got players to stay and can recruit as well. He'll be fine.

Nice INT for Reed but what an awful decision by Bailey to just float that ball there. Terrible thrown pass too. Dearmon better be giving him an ear full for that one unless it was a Hail Mary to end the first half or something.

looks like the defense totally dominated the day. That is concerning for many reasons.

I wondered about that when I saw the MT FB twitter tweeted comments with Cunningham but nothing from Hockman
