Attendance?

MTSU fans met my low expectations of not coming out to support their team because their real team was playing Arkansas on ESPN2. That game wasn't even close to a sell out as some led on during the week. The upper portions of that stadium were less than 20% full.

Actual attendance was more like 15K with 2K Vandy fans.

There were way more than 15,000 fans there. 25,411 is probably an accurate count.

Yeah, pretty silly to try judge by the stands when the concourse was full of people trying to hide from the rain and the steady stream of late arrivals combined with the steady stream of early exits due to rain.

If that stadium seats 30,000, the crowd wasn't even close to 25,000. At its best point, it might have been 18-19K. After the rain started, it was more like 12-13K.

And, we still don't know if season tickets which are not used are counted in the attendance figures.

25,411 is PAID attendance. Rain / TV probably detered a goodly number of that from coming.

I had 4 tickets and ended up staying home in Knoxville. The 3 other folks I was going to drag along were not big sports fans and didn't want to go, and I didn't feel like driving over the mountains and back in a monsoon by myself.

The stadium looked good on TV though. It looked like a great crowd.

Honestly, I think our stadium is just about 5k seats too big right now. All that bare aluminum looks bad on TV, even when we have a good crowd.

What strand of marijuana is that?

Pass it over here please.
Having been in attendance for both the Tennessee State (set the record) and Georgia Tech (broke the record, as well as the Minnesota, Miss State, and other similar games, I'd like to think I have a pretty good feel for attendance in that stadium.

The 2,000 number (for Vanderbilt fans) seems a bit high (based on seating in the visitors section alone)

Around 18,000 at the game. Most of the MTSU fans in the box behind us were far more interested in the UT game on a TV. Crowd noise had no impact on the game. Middle students were not a factor in crowd noise.

Upper deck closed end of the stadium was empty.

Middle fans were giving unused tickets away outside the gate to Vanderbilt fans.

Bathrooms were worse than Birmingham Bowl at Legion Field. We tailgated with full Vanderbilt tents just outside of the Middle Hall of Fame.

Enjoyed celebrating a win.

VandyGold is on crack. I was there too. We had 23,000 at the game. I practically live at the stadium and know that we had more than we had during Miss St. in 2009. The weather was crappy. I'm shocked that many showed up. Dude, your team won. Well done. Stay classy. No need to come on here and act like a jackass.

Vandy fans talking about attendance. lol

Lol.

15k total, 2k VU fans.

Weather probably didn't help, it was nasty.

I believed the announced attendance was about right . There were about 800 or so Vandy fans there which is pitiful for an SEC school and shows how little support they actually have. They have inflated attendance numbers at their own field because it is filled with other SEC schools fans.

I was there and it felt like 25k. There were probably 1500 to 2000 vandy fans. About a fifth of the crowd hung out in the covered area. After half time about half cleared out.

Lol, why are you so mad?

I was just judging by the fans in the seats, kinda hard to estimate those on the concourse.

2k VU fans is about right with about 1/3 leaving when we got down 10.

Lots of bare aluminum in both end zones, north upper deck and a LOT of empty blue chair backs on the home side. I was there and saw it with my own eyes. I seriously doubt that the actual turnstile count was more than 20,000 .

Agree FranklinRaider. We stopped counting when we reached 40 fans wearing UT gear and not Blue.

Interesting this site never posted a game recap. Just an observation.

Yeah. I kinda stopped counting the Georgia fans after about 50. You know, cause they made up 60% of the crowd...

Lots of mean spirited posts.

Needless to say, it's nice to win this game because there are a million things to make fun of when it comes to our football program. I'll take the win, y'all can continue trying to emulate Chad Withrow.

Austin, I promise you somebody in the Athlectic Dept. knows what the actual "butts in seats" number was based on the scanner count. RC Johnson was a master at that kind of math for years at Memphis. The stadium should have been standing room only for a game like this. No excuses.

What's the infatuation with a "game story". You'll find one on DNJ.com, on GoBlueRaiders.com and M'Boro Post.com.

I've been following this (and the other) MT message boards for years and I can't tell you whether on not a "game story" has ever been written by the moderators or anyone else. You do know that the mods. are volunteers (hate to use the word - lol).

I certainly don't come to MT message boards for a "game story". I'm sure it's different at some places where the paid moderators are expected to provide more content.

I keep wondering why the Vandy fans are still here.

Then I looked at their schedule, and I realized that they won't win a game for probably at least another11 months.

We had a nice crowd, would have been bigger if it wasnt during the final day of a 4 day rainstorm. Let's move on.

Seriously, I have no idea why the Vandy fans are fascinated by the lack of a game story on GoMiddle.

Thanks Stockstill for choking at the end of this game because now we have to put up with these jackasses for the next week and a half until they go to SC and lose again. Had we beaten them, they would be gone by now. Next time, make Buster go for the FG on 4th and goal, don't try a stupid lateral in the pouring rain and have the balls to go for it on 4th and 2 and we win by at least 9.

Vandy took what we gave them and that was the whole game. I'll give them credit but VU won because we screwed the pooch multiple times. Again, thanks for the brilliant play calling Buster and Stock.

The Blue Raiders had a lot of 45 yard pass completions. They were mostly horizontal passes but they did go 45 yards. That can be added to the game summary.

Still no game story. Interesting.

My main focus here is recruiting. Back in the day when I had more time, there would be game stories done. I just don't have the time nor the resources to do those these days, plus the aforementioned media outlets do a pretty good job of covering that so I don't feel the need to regurgitate what's already being put out there.

Derek does a good job on the game previews for me each week so we roll with those, but outside of that, our coverage will revolve around recruiting.

We really may not win again until 2016. Brutal schedule for a team like us.

Yes, but with your "D" you should be competitive with SC, Missouri, Houston, and UK and possibly others. As someone who grew up a Dore. fan (Just dislike the "sidewalk alumni" and excessive, comparatively, media coverage) and as someone who always pulls for our opponents to do well I'll be pulling for success. I hope you make us look good by beating some $EC schools by a greater margin than you beat us.
