There were way more than 15,000 fans there. 25,411 is probably an accurate count.MTSU fans met my low expectations of not coming out to support their team because their real team was playing Arkansas on ESPN2. That game wasn't even close to a sell out as some led on during the week. The upper portions of that stadium were less than 20% full.
Actual attendance was more like 15K with 2K Vandy fans.

Having been in attendance for both the Tennessee State (set the record) and Georgia Tech (broke the record, as well as the Minnesota, Miss State, and other similar games, I'd like to think I have a pretty good feel for attendance in that stadium. What strand of marijuana is that?
Pass it over here please.
Around 18,000 at the game. Most of the MTSU fans in the box behind us were far more interested in the UT game on a TV. Crowd noise had no impact on the game. Middle students were not a factor in crowd noise.
Upper deck closed end of the stadium was empty.
Middle fans were giving unused tickets away outside the gate to Vanderbilt fans.
Bathrooms were worse than Birmingham Bowl at Legion Field. We tailgated with full Vanderbilt tents just outside of the Middle Hall of Fame.
Enjoyed celebrating a win.
No way in hell there was 2000 fans for vandy there. At the most maybe 700, and that's being way too generous.
Lol.
15k total, 2k VU fans.
Weather probably didn't help, it was nasty.
I believed the announced attendance was about right . There were about 800 or so Vandy fans there which is pitiful for an SEC school and shows how little support they actually have. They have inflated attendance numbers at their own field because it is filled with other SEC schools fans.
I was there and it felt like 25k. There were probably 1500 to 2000 vandy fans. About a fifth of the crowd hung out in the covered area. After half time about half cleared out.
Yeah. I kinda stopped counting the Georgia fans after about 50. You know, cause they made up 60% of the crowd...Agree FranklinRaider. We stopped counting when we reached 40 fans wearing UT gear and not Blue.
Interesting this site never posted a game recap. Just an observation.

Austin, I promise you somebody in the Athlectic Dept. knows what the actual "butts in seats" number was based on the scanner count. RC Johnson was a master at that kind of math for years at Memphis. The stadium should have been standing room only for a game like this. No excuses.Yeah. I kinda stopped counting the Georgia fans after about 50. You know, cause they made up 60% of the crowd...
Agreed. But let's be serious, MT has a history of big let downs in similar games and it's not like MT fans are keen on enduring cold rain and wind...The stadium should have been standing room only for a game like this. No excuses.
Seriously, I have no idea why the Vandy fans are fascinated by the lack of a game story on GoMiddle. What's the infatuation with a "game story". You'll find one on DNJ.com, on GoBlueRaiders.com and M'Boro Post.com.
I've been following this (and the other) MT message boards for years and I can't tell you whether on not a "game story" has ever been written by the moderators or anyone else. You do know that the mods. are volunteers (hate to use the word - lol).
I certainly don't come to MT message boards for a "game story". I'm sure it's different at some places where the paid moderators are expected to provide more content.
Still no game story. Interesting.
Unfortunately that sums it up pretty well. Here is your game story
I keep wondering why the Vandy fans are still here.
Then I looked at their schedule, and I realized that they won't win a game for probably at least another11 months.
We had a nice crowd, would have been bigger if it wasnt during the final day of a 4 day rainstorm. Let's move on.
