That is somewhat of a joke. Malashka not on 1st or 2nd team, Whittington not Defensive POY and player of the year (Jenkins) on a team in the bottom half of the conference.

To be fair, Jenkins is fairly deserving. But Malashka not being 1st OR 2nd, and Whittington not recognized for defense is pretty wild.

Whittington is the best defensive player on the best defensive team. She draws the toughest assignment every night and delivers. She's tops in my book regardless of what the league says.

Agreed. No idea how that snub is justifiable.

Two things:
If Malashka wasn’t first or second team it was because she wasn’t nominated. You can only vote for the players nominated. Do you really think there’s a coach in this league that wouldn’t vote for her.
Second, Whittington is a good defensive player, however, the insistence on playing her 35-40 minutes a game is going to keep this team from reaching its full potential.
The best 3-game stretch all year was Louisville, Memphis, Houston. Go take a peek at those box scores…
