LADY RAIDER BB Middle Tennessee (12-4) vs UTEP (6-9), Thursday 01-18, 6:30 pm, ESPN+

UTEP comes to Murphy Center Thursday 01/18 struggling through the season thus far. In UTEP's last game at home the Miners saw FIU beat them soundly 83-62 behind a 4th period 25-11 thumping.
The UTEP Lady Miners are playing this year without successful Head Coach Kevin Baker who retired from coaching. They return former long time coach Keitha Adam's in taking over coaching responsibilities.
The Lady Raiders are coming off a 2 game conference win streak on the road. They were led by Anastasiia Boldyreva who was named CUSA player of the week in which she had back to back double doubles in scoring & rebounding. That included a career high 32 point effort at La Tech.

Episode 6 feat. Chris Massaro

Let’s talk about it…

I thought it was a good conversation and if I can say so myself after having conversations with him off camera, my opinion is he’s been severely underfunded. They’re doubling the salary pool for football (as noted in the episode). It’s taken 2 decades. What’s done is done and we all should hope it leads to success. Most importantly he’s willing to do this again in the near future. What would you like to hear? (He’s already made it clear to me he’s not answering questions about firing McDevitt, he’s very aware of the problem)

I didn’t have the time to talk about NIL collective potential, what are the checks and balances of administration to AD, and much more.

MT GAME NOTES

McDevitt is safe

It's painfully obvious. Just watching his post game pressers and this recent coaches show broadcast you can tell. All smiles, not a worry in the world. Everything is fine.

You would think we are the only school in the country that has a few injured players if you watch this recent coaches broadcast too. Spent a big portion of the broadcast essentially explaining why this team is so bad now because of a few injuries and he did so eloquently. Very convincing....especially when talking about next year and Cam's return and assumably his return.

This man does not deserve to be the coach here after a disastrous 6 years. What has he done to warrant being retained further? A pre-season #1 conference team should not be even close to this bad after a few injuries, only one of them being a starter. One starter gets injured and we go from first to last ? Not buying it. Every single team in the country faces adversity every single year. The good ones turn lemons into lemonade and go win or at least compete for a championship.

McPhee, Massaro, and Steve Smith better have not secretly extended this guy....but I almost expect it due to their unmatched levels of incompetency...

Really?

I have been reading this forum for years and all you people do is complain about how much you hate Massaro, McPhee, Stock and McDevitt. You still complain about Stock even though he’s gone. And for the record, none of you could even hold a candle to Stock as a coach or man or player

Question: how many of you have actually coached at the division 1 level?

Question: how many of you actually work with this generation to understand how to motivate them?

Question: how many of you have ever been responsible for someone else’s education, safety, welfare, other than your own family?

Question: how many of you have ever set up late at night with an 18-year-old freshman whose mother just died of cancer as they cried their eyes out?

Question: how many of you have ever had a student athlete die while you were in charge?

Question: how many of you are responsible for multi millions?

Question: how many of you have had to look a player in the eyes after a career ending injury and watch all of their hopes and dreams fade away in that moment?

If the answer is no to one or more of these questions, then you are not qualified to understand what the coaches at MTSU go through on a daily basis. You hide behind your computer like a computer ninja typing freely about things you have no understanding of!

If someone went after your job and your livelihood and went on social media, or your employers social media and screamed, red in the face to fire you on a daily basis… How long would you last?

Look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself what would you do if people blasted you on a nightly basis for trying your best and coming up short.

Another option is to go directly up the coaches, Massaro or McPhee and say it to their faces like MEN use to do.

Either support this department in the good times and bad or go support Tennessee

Or fade away into obscurity!

FOOTBALL Finally! Real Leadership

Ok, it's official. I'm 100% all in for Derek Mason. I'm a fan and I'm giving money to BRAA or whatever. This guy and his staff is adding their own nutrition station to the current facilities plus locker room upgrades right now. They are making their own improvements until the SAPC gets done. They could have outsourced it but Nah, they are gonna get it done. Wow. Leadership. I'm a fan. This is all we wanted. It will translate to wins. I'd run through a wall for a dude like that. I just would.
