Most economists are proven failures. Just because someone is an economist and has a podcast doesn’t mean shit. But I was generally commenting on your post not his podcast.

Capitalism requires regulation because all forms of government require some degree of regulation. The difference with capitalims is that it requires limited regulation not zero regulation. That’s a ridiculous premise on its surface to imply capitalism doesn’t require “some” degree of regulation. The principals behind capitalism are let the market dictate the value. That has nothing to do with the laws that govern a contract, for example. That’s just one example of many that could be proffered.

Television updates:
MT versus Iowa State & Purdue this Nov 28 & 30th can be seen on the Women's Sports Network. Easy viewing is through the free streaming service TUBI. Once you have the app downloaded just select live Television viewing & scroll to sports section. WSN is easily found.

Middle Tennessee's loan network broadcast is our game at Liberty January 4, 2025 on ESPNU.

On a side note the men's basketball team have 8 network broadcasts this year. See their twitter (X) page for network listing.

While we have no additional info from the university I anticipate all other home games will still be broadcast on ESPN+. Conference affiliates such as Liberty & FIU have already submitted ESPN+ updates for home games not on tap for major network viewing.

You seem to have a lack of understanding of what capitalism is.
Yes, I’m sure the economist discussing this was wrong and his associating it to a pure based economic system is wrong.

Too the point, the discussion was about how people are discussing collective bargaining and revenue sharing plus limiting transfers to combat what we are seeing now and how that would go against a libertarian / Milton Friedman style capitalism that see unions/collective bargaining as a hinderance and that after this shakes out it would separate out the schools from the largest from the rest that couldn’t compete with their revenue/donor base.

Then again what would he know? I am sure the person that came up with don’t hire the unproven blank assistant coaches as a HC knows more about economics too.

I stumbled across a podcast clip the other day with an economics professor discussing the current status of college sports. He went into detail about how this is one of the purest examples of unregulated capitalism that is visible to the average American.

I would be curious how many people consider themselves capitalists, but then hate the current state of college athletics.

Highly successful and elite Virginia coach, Tony Bennett, suddenly resigns citing the untenable nature and trajectory of college athletics...

The powers that be within college athletics really do have no shame. I wouldn't be sad at all if the country revolted and the whole thing came crashing down because people didn't want to watch or participate anymore. Watching the NCAA and ESPN in bankruptcy court would be my nirvana.

One can dream anyway. We all know these simpleton Alabama and Ohio State fans will never stop supporting their schools even though they are ruining the sport for everybody else. Sickening.

Facilities Mega Thread

Was in the mid 90's Dr Walker felt MT needed a new mascot/logo to bring us into the 21st century. He proposed a committee of involved students to bring about change for a new future school mascot.
He was a great proponent for Middle Tennessee, but not sure if the committee understood exactly what we needed or what he wanted.
Boots had it right all along. Simplicity is best. Wish he had just stuck with his traditional tiered MT helmet logo for everything.
The field with slanted MT centered within the state monogram would have been perfect. Also IMO probably drop the I am True Blue Blue from the sideline. No need for too much graphics.
Always go with the moniker a professor at MT taught me years ago. He said when all else fails to remember the motto "KISS". Keep It Simple Stupid.

FOOTBALL INSTANT ANALYSIS: FIVE Takeaways From Victory over Kennesaw State

The past few weeks we have shot ourselves in the foot with bad mistakes. Fumbles. Interceptions. Dropped passes.
Last night those were improved. I'll gladly call out Omari for his improvement holding on to the ball.

But the stupid stupid penalties. We were just against a team that made mistakes too. I couldn't help but laugh at the two in a row on the punt. For the same thing! We have yet to put together a complete game. Yes that is hard with so many players out and a hodgepodge OL, but that is a coach's job. To adapt to the players they have.
CDM did not hold back on his thoughts on the refs this week. He really disagreed with the 4 men in the backfield calls. They called it 5 times including the 2 that you’re referencing in the punt formation. He said that’s the same formation that they’ve lined up in all season. He said that he reached out to CUSA HQ for clarification so they are not caught off guard in the future.

FOOTBALL Middle Tennessee (2-5, 1-2) @ Jacksonville State (3-3, 2-0) (ESPN2), 6:30, Wednesday, October 23, 2024

I wouldn't bet on it.

Still remember last year and another one of Stockstill's eight losses to Rich Rod, expect no different outcome this time. This team hasn't shown they can go on the road and win
I expect this one gets ugly early. Wouldn't surprise me if they hung 60+ on us.
