I just remind them of Oprah Winfrey. As an African-American, Oprah was able to climb out of poverty to become the world's richest woman. If the American system is rigged for the rich, how could a black girl, born in crushing poverty in the South, grow up to build a billion dollar empire?

From Poverty To Abundance

I don't think it is "rigged." I do think that once people accumulate extreme wealth that they leverage it in many ways, which is fine for the most part. The issue is that they are leveraging wages heavily. We've had wage stagnation for decades and it's not because of any president we've had (Well, both sides passed NAFTA and other agreements that have harmed manufacturing). It's because more and more power has been concentrated into the hands of the most wealthy. With that kind of leverage, wages will never go up, or go up so slowly that after inflation, there is a zero net effect.
