FOOTBALL What Does the NCAA Eligibility Ruling Mean For MTSU?

One thing that the article doesn't take into account would be the potential additional revenue of a bowl game (next year). When you look at the difference between G5 and P5 football players is G5 players typically are either undersized and overdeveloped (skill wise) or oversized and underdeveloped. That's why you see Redshirt football players on a MTSU but you don't find them in the same amount in a P5.

If the school could carry the extra scholarships for an extra year you could find that the program breaks even or exceeds the costs.

The other way of looking at it would be to scrutinize the players more, meaning that senior kid who hasn't developed and isn't showing the desired character could be a casualty on the same token the HS Senior who's on the bubble might not make the cut.

If you don't take the 4th/5th year senior you might find that the programs losses competitiveness because other programs like UAB or Marshall does keep them.
