we could be FIU

Wow. Great info there.

We made $1.3m on ticket sales. Wow.

That's where the business part comes in. It's like this...

I once had a grocery store customer that had the AC go out in his store. He rented the building(responsible responsible everything but roof and parking lot) and couldn't see spending $$ for 3 months need out of 12.

But he spent a fortune on refrigeration because the units were running non stop because it was so hot in the store. Couldn't grasp the balance of spending money on a new AC compared to the cost of fixing compressors and coolers because of it.

Same thing. Our admin has to weigh the cost of buying out compared to the money lost due to ticket sales, merchandise, donations, etc.

There is a LARGE part of me that feels McPhee truly believes the $ doesn't matter as long as the academics are good.

and we can't afford to buy certain coaches contracts out???

There IS a cost to keeping underperforming coaches...
Exactly. There is a opportunity cost to keeping him. No telling what the true cost of keeping Stockstill around all these years is. It's many multiples of his annual salary guaranteed, but we can't expect the clowns running this place to understand that.

When we had our sit down with Massaro a few years ago, I questioned his ticket pricing strategy. At the time, WKU tickets were 50% of the price of comparable tickets at MT.

I can’t remember his exact answer (will see if I can find my notes) but I remember disagreeing with.
Then again, I’d rather have 2000 fans paying $5 bucks than 1000 fans paying $10 bucks

Wasn't it something about devaluing the product, if I remember correctly? I swore he said that. It blew my mind, because the product is ALREADY devalued. The market has spoken.

That sounds correct.

If it wasn’t from our sit down with Massaro, he said something like that when he spoke to our Athletic Administration class in the Spring of 2008 (taught by Stephanie Diaz).

In 2013, they ran with a marketing promo to buy reduced season tickets in the north end zone so I purchased a block of 20 from my marketing budget to use as a customer giveaway. I couldn’t even give them away. True story.

Y’all didn’t answer the last thread I put this in. But philosophies on ticket prices.

The strategies and dynamics — or lack thereof — of ticket prices by Extra Points’ Matt Brown.

You must have won since he's now selling HR benefit plans :)
Yes. We spanked them pretty soundly in Memphis my Junior year 35-14 and Coach Pancoast was let go after the season. He visited our locker room the next year in Jackson,MS after we upset Miss St. He signed my cousin 3 years ahead of me but I never played for him.
He’s been battling some health issues but Coach Donnelly told me last week that he’s doing better. Good man.
