FOOTBALL Wade to ECU

Wow. I was literally just thinking after WKU lost their assistants that we havent had any poached in a while. Here we have lost two in two days

Let me guess Stock will take his time with the hires and wait until after signing day which is always bafflingly. Hope he proves me wrong.

Two things to consider
1) Just because the hires are not made public before signing day, doesn't mean the new hires aren't already on the ground recruiting.
2) You can only have 7 guys (I think) on the road recruiting and 9 guys on staff. The loss of two assistants doesn't affect the staff's ability to conduct in-home visits - it just means that the entire staff is on the road almost the entire month

Ha!!! Not our staff! West and Nicks don't go on the road.

This always happens before the coaches conference. I'm not sad to see Wade go. Our O-line kept getting worse each year we went with him. Marshall got better when he left as will we.

Ummmm....I have mixed emotions. Our OL has not performed well since Walker went to the pros. Talent or coaching? He has hit on some and some he has not. I'm lukewarm on this. We will see. I wish him well.

There's always been rumors that some coaches on the staff don't go on the road. While they very well may true, it may also be that:
1) If they don't go on the road, West and Nicks may be the two coaches that stay in the office so the NCAA rule isn't violated
2) West and Nicks may be forced to hit the road
3) Other staff members may be elevated to do some recruiting on the road (I believe this is within the limits of the NCAA rules)

Well, the run blocking was subpar for sure, this year at least, but the pass blocking didn't really fall of IMO.

Either way, I think MT is in a good position to potentially upgrade here.

It's possible Coach Stock could elect to split OL responsibilities between Rick Mallory (OT/TE) and slide Mike Polly (RB) to OL coach.

I really don't see the need to have 2 OL coaches. That's probably why Geep left. If you want to move up to the bigger schools you would think you would need to have the experience of being over an entire offensive line and not just part of it.

You called it. Confirmed per football scoop today.

How about we go get Derrick Nix and Pierre Ingram? We can dream right?

We need to infuse some recruiting slayers with this staff. You would think with all the experience we would already have fundamentally sound coaching (turnovers/tackling)

"Middle Tennessee State: Sources tell us that MTSU plans to promote tackles and tight ends coach Rick Mallory to offensive line coach and running backs coach Mike Polly is expected to move to tackles and tight ends coach."

Agreed, Casey. Our run blocking has been subpar for quite some time now, and for our team to improve we have to become less one-dimensional on offense.

The 2 OL coaches thing sure worked when we rolled GT in 2012. We have more talent now than we did then. If Polly is over it, he'll get results. He can coach RB's. Parker is gone so now we'll see what we can do with Mathers, Tuck, Herrod, Dez and Kamani. I like the move. If we could have gotten in the endzone 3-4 more times from the 1 this year, we would have won 10 games.

It's not like we need to do a lot to get better. We beat GT in 2012 because we controlled the LOS. If we can do that again, We can beat Mizzou, BG and Vandy. If we can't, it's another 6-7 win year. We have LT and WKU at home. Win those 5 and it's an awesome season. Go 3-2, and it's still pretty good. Gotta own the line.
