We still have over 30 million uninsured.
The reason why is because there's a huge chunk of our population who will NOT get health insurance unless it's "free" to them.
Last year I helped two individuals enroll during open enrollment.
Both individuals did not have health insurance.
Both individuals had SEVERE pre-ex conditions and needed surgery
They enrolled. Got their surgeries done. Promptly dropped their coverage.
They put a few hundred dollars in.
Got a tens of thousands of dollars out, probably even more than a $100k out.
We're outnumbered. Heavily. There are simply too many people in the world who believe government should be in charge of health care and that all of our health care should be administered by government and paid for with taxes (taxes on "the wealthy", of course. Because when we tax the other guy, it doesn't impact us at all, right?)
