THE FUTURE OF GOMIDDLE

I figured it is about time to make this post.

Around a month ago Rivals.com was bought out by ON3. A ton of the group of 5 rivals websites have been purged out in the process of the merger. GoMiddle is one of those sites. The powers that be for the new regime cut GoMiddle, along with a ton of other G5 rivals sites. It was essentially a sub numbers game. The last day for the site will be June 30.

Going forward the message board will be at GoMiddle.freeforums.net. HERE is the link to that forum. We WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE CONTENT FOR SUBSCRIBERS ON SUBSTACK. in the coming weeks I will post the info for the substack site. There you will have inside content on the teams and recruiting. The substack site is not 100 percent up and running, but I will keep the board here posted and will tell you all when it's up so you can subscribe. There will be sign up info on the new message board site as well.

This is not the end for GoMiddle. It is another chapter. I look forward to you guys migrating to the new forum by July.

Matt and I have been working on the new forum so if anyone has issues let us know. It should be pretty easy to understand and is setup similarly to here. I’m still getting used to it and working through things so be patient.

No one wants to log on and see a dead board (even if just starting out) and plus, we've got a few good discussions going here.

I know things will ramp up towards football season, but maybe a daily post to get things started and get folks conversing would be good.

There isn’t a way for me to import them that I’ve found so far. I plan to get some of the popular ones added to continue the conversation. I’ve done 1 so far with the facilities thread. I just won’t be able to get all the previous comments added.

I noticed there are numerous schools such as ETSU, Rice, Memphis, & Liberty with independent active boards on csnbbs. I really like their setup. Is this not something MT & gomiddle.com supporters can be involved with, & create a site their as well? Not sure of the procedures or opportunity for creating an active board site over there, but thought I would toss the idea out.

I looked into it because I’m active over there as well. At first that was my preference but the owner of the site is not very responsive and wasn’t giving us the ability to run it.

The new site is fully ran by us so it gives us way more flexibility. That being said, if there are things you like over there I can try to incorporate them on the new site.

My thinking was if MT joined beside Liberty at csnbbs other fellow CUSA members might pick up on the development & follow suit. Could be wrong here, but thought one thing csnbbs might offer would be a bit more fellow conference school solidarity.

There is already an MTSU page there but it’s never gotten any traction. There is a thread in the important section of CUSA CSNBBS that list every major fan forum for each team (link below). Jax St is using the same platform that we moved to and is what I modeled ours off of.

As this chapter closes, I've been thinking it may be my time to close the book myself. I've been through a few of our forums over the years and whether here or there I've enjoyed conversing and in some cases bantering with all of you. And to those of yesteryear who have come and gone as well. It's just become increasingly a point of frustration to be a fan of and follow these programs. When I started grad school at Middle in 1999 and worked in the AD as we made the transition to I-A, I truly believed we had an opportunity to do some of the things we've watched other schools who came behind/after us actually do themselves. I've watched us squander opportunities, our location, and the fan base over the nearly three decades since. It's actually become a point of discontent because I was once very passionate about this place, seeing it flourish and grow. But I actually haven't seen much of that at all. Following MT for the past 25+ years is kind of like watching a person win the lottery and squander every penny with nothing to show for it a couple of years later and then flopping through life thereafter like a fish out of water.

During this time, I've had the opportunity to provide some insights in my time in athletic administration, provide some insider scoop from a national network I had developed which has now grown dimmer (as my career took a different path), and last but not lease had a lot of energetic (if not sometimes feisty) interactions with all of you. It's been a privilege to do so. And an honor to have had the opportunity to chat and then over time meet some of you in person on gamedays. Anyway, this seems like a good time to take a break. And I just want to say thank you all for contributing and putting up with me. I'm grateful for this board and the others before it and wish you all well with the new one. Perhaps, once we get a new administration and hopefully some life back in this institution, I will feel compelled to get back in there and sign up. Best wishes and God bless you all.

Would you want to look into what the new site is capable of? There are a lot of options but that’s what I was able to do to give MT fans a place to chat. I’m no IT person just someone that loves fan forums lol. I didn’t want this to die.
