Steele projects MT to another bowl

excerpt:

...The schedule may look daunting, but if injuries can stay minimal and some things go their way, Steele thinks the Raiders could prove some naysayers wrong.

Most notably, MT's Week 5 matchup with prohibitive conference favorite and defending league champ FAU could be the biggest game on the schedule. It'll be the conference opener for both teams, and while FAU will be playing its fifth straight week and third game on the road, the Blue Raiders will be coming off a bye.

"Florida Atlantic, I love that situation for Middle," Steele said. "Middle Tennessee is off a bye, Florida Atlantic is off of playing UCF in a huge game on a Friday night and playing on their fifth straight week and having to travel. That's a game I put in the toss-up category, and it might be one of the keys to whether or not Middle Tennessee can win the C-USA East." .....

I feel like this is the story of Stockstill's tenure - a good team, but can we take that step forward into great?

I agree this is a key game. We need to beat Vandy week 1, UTM should be an easy win, then stay healthy at UGA, we could come into this at 2-1 with the chance to really build momentum.

I think the key game is absolutely Vandy. You can ill afford to lose that game and walk into the conference opener with the added pressure that will come given their potential record walking in..

I think we were 40-50 spots higher than Vandy in the USA Today countdown (or Orlando Sentinel, whichever) yet still predicted to be the underdogs... something's wrong with that picture.

Vandy is projected to finish last in the SEC this year.

If we can’t beat the worst team in the SEC, then we are a crappy football team, no matter if we finish 7-5 and play a Sun Belt Team in the Everyone Participates Toilet Bowl in Kalamazoo Michigan on Dec 16.

If this team doesn’t start at least 2-2, then TF should be interim coach by October 1.
