Sporting news had the same finish for MT (3rd) in the east. Using the same source as Athlon, recruiting was ranked 9th. Byard was named best nfl prospect. Barber the hardest hitter.
So Marshall loses their stud qb and no dropoff? WKU lost a lot of seniors and starting qb and they are better? Whatever!!

For the record I believe we finish 1st in the East. This is Stocks most talented team. This by far is our most talented offense. Buster is going to live or die by how our offense performs over the next 12 to 18 months. No excuses anymore. He has everything he needs.

Marshall is still probably more talented, 1-85. They're a few recruiting classes ahead of us, depth and talent-wise. They also seem to have the same admissions criteria as Troy did back in the day, but so be it.
WKU still has Doughty, who I presume has compromising pictures of someone in the NCAA offices.
I don't think it's fair to ever put any hard and fast expectations on a season. Football's a funny game - sometimes you get the bounces, sometimes you don't. I've seen 6-6 seasons feel better than 7-5 seasons.
I do expect us to challenge both Marshall and WKU for the east and be ahead of the F_U's and ODU, etc, and another no-bowl season would be tough to stomach.

When I was reporting, I wasn't paying close attention. They have a guy listed that committed but never actually was a part of the signing class. They used a different service for their recruiting information than Rivals.
How is Doughty back? Western and MT for the East then. We need to show up at Bowling Green. Marshall lost their great QB and they lost their stud CB as well. He gave us fits. I give us the edge since we are at home.
I believe the WKU argument was based on Doughty's ACL tear early in his career. So essentially, his six years at WKU look like:
2010- redshirt
2011 - medical redshirt
2012 - RS - Fr
2013 - RS - So
2014 - RS - Jr
2015 - RS - Sr
Perfectly legitimate under NCAA rules.
