Latest net rankings update thru 12-05 has MT one spot higher at #25 nationally today. Notable comparisons: Tennessee #31, Memphis #45, Rice #53, Texas Tech #61, & Kentucky #90.
I think I saw something about how they had a couple of starters go down with season ending injuries so that might help explain some of it. Even so they have an SEC roster so they should be winning games like UTM and ETSU.I got to wondering about vandy (the women beat them twice last year).
They are not having a good year, having lost to ut-martin and etsu. Etsu beat vandy 44-31. ETSU had lost to South Carolina by 70 points last month.
Will we see that reflected in the polls? We are now up to #18 after the big road win at Memphis!
Hopefully. Louisville is on the road at Kentucky (7-1) today and UL leads 42-25 at halftime! We'll have to root for them the rest of the year, make our win look greatWill we see that reflected in the polls?
Similar to Houston's record, I think Rice's undefeated is also a little bit of an illusion. The best team they've played this year was SF Austin (6-2, NET 59) who they beat by 12... the next best team they played was Texas A&M (4-4, NET 156) who they beat by 8. We should have a height advantage on Rice too, their tallest is one 6'4" player (who doesn't play much).Ladies drop 4 spots to #22. Despite the Wednesday night victory the 4th quarter against Houston harms MT's net ranking, but only mildly. To have 4 solid quarters against Rice is imperative.
I don't believe so. Understand the streaming format is based on the home team's selection request. It appears for some reason the Rice administration went with CUSATV for this game. Which if correct is pretty crappy. These are this year's 2 best teams & Rice just cut down possible viewership tremendously. If I'm mistaken about this anyone is more than welcome to correct meIs the Rice game on ESPN +?

Yes I think this is correct. Really weird choice, but it is what it is at this point sadlyI don't believe so. Understand the streaming format is based on the home team's selection request. Probably some truth to that, if not the main reason!Just a theory about CUSATV VS ESPN+ administration game selections. Just reviewed some of the schools whom I would imagine have a lower than average game viewership & attendance level. I noticed schools such as FIU, FAU, & Rice seem to have a higher propensity for selecting the CUSATV pkgs compared to MT, UNT, & WKU for example. This is just a theory, but I propose the administration's that feel they have a lower than normal fan base interest are opting out for more of a conference kickback come game day.
Agreed. In all the post game comments I've heard from coach thru the years his comments towards weak scheduling of fellow conference schools were some of his most angry I've ever picked up on. I think the team is starting to develop more chemistry. If the game at Rice had been played earlier in the year they may have stumbled, such as with Mercer & Texas Tech. Whitson seems to be taking on more of that vocal leader role that successful teams need. I agree with you that if or when we get to full 4 quarters of quality play we're there with anyone.I would assume that despite potential upcoming victories, we will continue to slip. Most of our conference mates will be ranked pretty low so we just need to keep winning and hope to climb in the polls. I can't remember if it was a press conference or post game show, but CRI recently blasted unnamed CUSA teams for padding their schedules. He commented on how we might play a D2 team in an exhibition, but never in season. Yet several conference mates have multiple D2 games on their schedules. So the deeper we get into the conference games, our strength of schedule will weaken. We can't control that but we can keep winning and let the chips fall where they do. If this team puts 4 complete quarters together - which I don't think they've done yet - they can play with anyone.
I think we are on track for a great shot at an at large assuming we do very well in conference play. But yes, it is HIGHLY upsetting that most teams in our conference schedule horribly in OOC play. Really terrible, as Insell has indicated, if we're being honest.Agreed. Latest Bracketology note: MT is currently listed as a 9 seed vs Florida St. Winner would go up against South Carolina. If we could come in brimming with confidence for 4 quarters that could be very entertaining.
Forgot to include 2 factors assisting our ranking. Louisville is now 11-4 with a string of impressive victories after we clobbered them, & Memphis is up to 8-5. Both teams turning things around after our wins over them is having residual benefits on how Raiders are being viewed. Haven't checked any of our other opponents updated records yet, but here's to hoping those 2 keep it up. Until tournament time anyway.Great news! Just keep winning. I haven't heard anything more on her, unfortunately. But I guess we'll find out soon since the WKU game is tomorrow in about 24 hours.
