Will you be coming to the Vandy game?Next three up after S. Ala.
Vandy at home
Belmont and VCU on the road.
This is gonna be fun to watch.
Any ideas on attendance?I can't wait. Tix are selling pretty quick. We have ours on the garage door already, ready for Thursday night! Will be so exciting to have the team back at home with a chance to move to 2-0 against $EC teams.

Realistically, my guess is between 8-9,000 if we beat South Alabama. If the marketing folks and Massaro get out in the community and actually do something instead of putting an internet ad out, we could hit 10,000. If we don't beat South Alabama, I'd say between 7-8,000.Any ideas on attendance?
That's very true! We have a great home court advantage to begin with ... having a large crowd with lots of energy will help the team even more. Of course the Middle Curse is always hiding away there but our win rate against good teams in MBB is high (looking at you, football team).Additionally, I think it could be argued that a large crowd with tons of energy can actually help give the home team an edge in helping to win the game. The players feed off that energy. They have an extra little bounce in their step.
If you don't have tix yet to the Vandy game, you should aim to get them on Monday, as early as possible, and start asking coworkers, family, friends, neighbors to get theirs too. It creates a snowball effect when tickets start selling fast. Hopefully Aldo will put a piece out in the paper about our season and wanting a sell out for the Vandy game.
Milligan is skewed. They had a bazillion kids for RUCO dayI did some research.
2011-12 ... 5,329 per game (high of 10521 vs Minnesota in NIT) ... 27-7 record
2012-13 ... 5,410 per game (high of 10105 vs Western Kentucky) ... 28-6 record
2013-14 ... 4,465 per game (high of 7307 vs Belmont) ... 24-9 record
2014-15 ... 4,037 per game (high of 5227 vs Western Kentucky) ... 19-17 record
2015-16 ... 5,184 per game (high of 8882 vs VCU) ... 25-10 record
So far this year...
2016-17 ... 4,835 per game (high of 6020 vs Milligan) ... 8-1 record
We have been stagnant at 4,500 to 5,000 per game over the last 5 years. Kermit's right that if we want to be a nationally-recognized program, we need to have some real fan support behind us. We should aim to average 9,000 a game through the rest of the year, win or lose. It's an exciting product and the team is good so chances are we'll win most of our home games. Even in losses we have a great product and people come back.
MTOleBlue - Thanks for the research but da-n, that's depressing. All the success we've had and no bump in attendance past the Dendy year with all we've accomplished since the 20 +/- years of mediocrity (wonder how that year compares with say, the three previous years - and no, I'm not asking for more research).
You would like to think that we would be adding 250 season ticket sales per year, a growing fan base of students and greatly increased numbers of walk-up fans with the progress Davis has made.
Just as with FB I'm beginning to think it's time to forget about having an athletic dept and any sports, much less a nationally recognized men's basketball program. It's just so frustrating being a MT fan.
Well, I know you didn't ask... but I read your mind before you posted and already looked it up a few minutes ago. The three years prior to 2011-12 we averaged right around 3,600 each year with smaller crowds being the rule, not the exception (the UT game at Bridgestone in 2009 with 14,000 and at home in 2008 with 11,000 skewed the numbers). In 2008-09, our Senior Day crowd was 1,104.MTOleBlue - Thanks for the research but da-n, that's depressing. Not to be a debbie downer here, but I'd hate to see our record when crowd is above, lets say, 8k.

And more wins and larger crowds are likely in the immediate futureDavis teams are 8-5 in home games with crowds of 7k or larger.
