I don't have the trust some do in Matt as a HC. I think when Rick retires we should pursue a proven winner who can take us to the next level. Matt is unproven.
I have absolutely no faith that the embedded parasites making decisions will hire anyone better than Matt. These are the same skid marks that removed athletic broadcasts from WMOT.

There's prime candidates for head coaches out there, and I am not sure Matt isn't one. I suspect (pretty sure) MT won't hire a better candidate than Matt, given this administration's record of hires.

A lot of factors come in to play when considering a new coach. Are there coaches better at X's & O's when preparing a team, & making strategic moves when the game is in play? Possibly. But the other huge part of coaching has to be the ability to recruit.
Despite CRI's feeling on the matter MT is a mid-major school with a mid-major budget. After seeing Matt's recruiting ability here the last few years I can't think of any other coach out there capable of outdueling him in that category.
Basing things on recruiting ability. If CMI is capable of being even a little better in game prep & in game strategy, (for example proper time out usage) than his father, then he's got my vote.

As an add on. I have no doubt that most of next year's class has Matt's recruiting prints all over it. There are 5-6 high quality freshmen recruits in next year's class. If CRI does decide to retire CMI deserves the opportunity to coach his own players he's recruited. If things turn out to be a failure after a few years with Matt at the helm we can turn the page at that time.

It’s been said before but you’re not going to find many other former SEC HCs and AHCs with the experience and skills that Matt has. He’s obviously an incredible recruiter and in my opinion should have the opportunity to shape the team even more so we can fix the things Rick has struggled with in recent years like bench use and offensive production. Plus, it gives the program a lot of consistency with the culture that has been built.
