MT Director of Player Personnel Brandon Lawson to Eastern Kentucky to be Director of Recruiting. He will join quite a few coworkers from his time at UT on the EKU staff.

You hate to see any turnover this close to signing day, but good for Lawson. It shouldn't hurt us too much on Wednesday, but i'm not sure he was directly involved in recruiting here. He did help out with recruiting on Butch Jones's staff.

Brandon is a great guy and I do believe he had a big impact at MT on the recruiting front. He'll be missed I'm sure.

It's sour grapes because here he wasn't recruiting, he was managing. It's not the same. Why say all of that if you weren't pissed off? Just say you were happy to have been given a chance at MT and that you're excited for the new opportunity. To say what he said, it's obvious that he wasn't happy and is being immature in his exit. EKU has nothing of note. How do they have more money than us? The point is he's gonna be an actual recruiter there which is why there is more money for him. Our coaches recruit here. Stock is on the road a lot and TF will be too. With TF coming in, he will control a lot of the O positions. This kid saw the writing on the wall I bet.

Mind explaining what he said and where you saw these comments. Kinda hard to follow without a road map.

I don't think Lawson was complaining about his lack of recruiting - actually, the truth is quite the opposite. The typical Director of Player Personnel is heavily involved with recruiting and not every off-the-field CFB staffer aspires to be an on-field coach.
For Lawson, this is an opportunity to reunite with some old friends from his time at UT. Nothing more. Not a slight at Stock. Not hatred toward MT.

You leave 2 days before signing day and you tell a newspaper guy it's because a 1aa has more money and resources than the place you were just at and that's not being salty? come on now. Why mention money and resources if you were happy to rejoin your buddies? I've left jobs I didn't like and saw others do the same and when they left while throwing shots in the air like money and more status, it was because they felt they didn't get enough where they were.

If it wasn't the case, you don't leave 2 days before signing day and you aren't vocal about it either. Especially to the press. Sheesh.

Perhaps I can shed some light on some things here. I reached out to Lawson for some clarification on his comments, and he gave me some insights although he didn't want to go on the record with much. I can say that he hasn't left yet, and he's staying on board through Signing Day. This was just another instance of football scoop getting the drop on something before it was official. I don't even think he knew that Aldo was putting a piece together about him, either. I can say he's not salty, either, just had a difference of opinion on some things, but nothing that made him run out and find another job. It's really just a better fit for him at EKU. His wife is also going through some health issues (if you'll recall a gofundme account was setup to help them) so having a stronger support system in place was a big factor too, I think.

I stand corrected then. My dad used to say "Never say anything you wouldn't want to read in a newspaper the next day". There's a lot of truth to that.

No kidding! I'm sure that all of us have something we differ in opinion on with our current employer. That being said I would never say that on my way out or when I interviewed for another job.
