By 3 TD's could they sniff the college football playoff? A lot of different factors would have to take place IMO...Like a couple 2 loss champions from some of the bigger conferences. Not C-USA but I think Houston could be a contender for the playoff if they go undefeated.

Really think it's about the schedule. Had we done it last year with wins over Bama etc maybe. It would take a top tier win. We have zero chance with this years schedule. Not sure what the rest of the conference looks like. Maybe wku could since they play Bama

No chance. A C-USA could have wins over Bama, Clemson, Michigan St and Oklahoma, and they would still claim the conference schedule wasn't tough enough. The'll refuse to add another slice to the pie.

I don't think it matters, no CUSA team would ever get a chance. The only way would be 3 or 4 years in a row of 12-1 records and then pull off a 13-0 record with a big P5 win - similar to the Boise run a few years ago.

I think this is pretty close to it. There would also have a be a confluence of all the top P5 teams having one loss or more seasons.

If we beat everyone by at least 3 td's then we would be part of the conversation. No doubt in my mind. But agree with above that the schedule would hurt. Beat a top 20 team by 3 td's then we are in business.

all depends on the schedule. if you go 13-0 against CUSA and MAC schools, then forget it.

Schedule top P5 opponents for OOC play and then we would be in the thick of it.

Houston didn't make the playoff though, just the access bowl. I think the original question was about what a C-USA school would have to do to make the playoff. In the current format I say it's not possible.
