BASKETBALL CUSA SemiFinals: (#3) Middle Tennessee (22-10, 12-6) vs (#2) Jacksonville State (21-11, 12-6) (CBSSN), 2PM, Friday, March 14, 2025

The Quel'Ron House guy is really impressive for Jax State. He shows up in big games like this. Expect him to be getting a nice NIL deal in the off season. We gotta put the clamps on him today somehow to give ourselves a chance

I don’t know what was said on the sideline, but how it ends up in the lowest point scorer’s hands for the last shot… and he doesn’t even get a shot off… beyond me.

Nick's never been good in crunch time.

And we didn't deserve to win anyway. You cannot shoot FT's like a middle school team and expect to win a championship. End of story.

How do you not get a shot off with 14 sec left.

Bad coaching and bad preparation. His teams have never had good situational awareness.

Why was Bufford even on the floor ? It was the last offensive possession. Put a f'ing offensive threat out there like Tre Green or somebody. He would have taken that corner 3 and maybe made it.

Just terrible critical decision making skills from McDevitt. Bufford is an offensive liability and always has been. Sure, he's an all-conference defender....but we are not playing defense there....

Pretty typical end unfortunately.. team had poor ball and situational awareness the entire second half…

Why was Bufford even on the floor? Why not put an offensive threat like Tre Green in that corner if they need that option ?

Bufford for the season 26% from 3.....Tre Green 41.6%....

Only bright side is McDevitt's contract is officially expired. His mercenary roster will be mostly graduating and leaving.

It was a good season but ended about how I'm sure most of us expected it to. We needed better coaching and better discipline in a game like this and it just wasn't there. It's never been there with McDevitt.

It's time to rebuild this program

McDevitt's teams have always had pretty low basketball IQ. So this is just another example. Time to move on and try out another coach.

unreal. if that is indeed the case. i made a joke about that a month ago when we "could" have gotten to first place.

Unfortunately I think Nick saved his job for another year.

Anyways. Hard game to listen to. Offense was not great and that ending sums up the season.

How? He has a losing record over 7 seasons and no championships. He put together a mercenary roster this year as a last ditch effort in his final year and couldn't even crack the championship game. Next year will be a clear rebuilding year with the status of our roster. McDevitt has already proven about 4 or 5 times he doesn't have what it takes to build a roster here. What else is there to see at this point?

McPhee and Massaro are stupid. That I will agree with, but there's no way they are stupid enough to give this guy more time. No way.

Really sour way to end the season to this point though I hope we can play in an invitational tournament. That would be a good shot at redemption for the players, above all else

Just look at the difference in coaching between Jax State's coach and ours. When the game was tied they came out of a timeout and ran a perfectly executed play to get two points. We come out and throw the ball around wildly and don't even get a shot off. I bet Mcdevitt is making several more 100s of thousands of dollars than their coach too. They are going on to the finals at a school that has a lot less basketball tradition than ours after just being in CUSA for two years. Sad

Are there any basketball experts here who could maybe explain why Bufford was in the game for the last offensive possession who is a known offensive liability when we have a major offensive weapon like Tre Green sitting on the bench?

Bufford 26% from 3 this season (and didn't even shoot the damn ball) while Tre Green is 41.6% from 3. If Tre Green was in that corner we would have had a 41.6% chance to be playing in the championship game tomorrow.

Why was Bufford out there instead of Green or Porter? Porter was on the bench too!! OUR TEAMS LEADING SCORER WAS ON THE BENCH FOR THE FINAL OFFENSIVE PLAY....

WHY THE HELL WAS BUFFORD OUT THERE INSTEAD OF GREEN OR PORTER?

It seemed to become a mad scramble and just get it to whoever - but Bufford? Baffling choice

I agree but with the clowns track record I wouldn't be surprised.
