LADY RAIDER BB CUSA Championship Game: (#2) Middle Tennessee (26-7, 16-2) vs (#1) Liberty (25-6, 16-2) (CBSSN), 4:30PM, Saturday, March 15, 2025

Revenge time. I hope we win by 20+… for several reasons. The ladies will be ready to play. Apparently Liberty didn’t even acknowledge to their fans in a mass text that the ladies are in the championship too - only mentioned men and said to watch the ladies on TV at the wrong time, lol

MT is currently -4.5 and ESPN predictor has it at 68.5% in favor of MT which, personally, I do not agree with and think Liberty should be the favorites based on how both teams have been playing down the stretch. Liberty is playing extremely confident and with high energy recently. Also, their starters played around 20 mins in each of their tournament games versus the 30-40 range for our starters.

I actually think that may play in our favor. Something that’s been a trend all year is that Smuda and several of their starters can’t play extended minutes without having to sit. That gives us great opportunities to take advantage of their bench time.

It very well could, but they are #7 in the nation (#1 in CUSA) with an average of 28.3 bench points per game.

Q2 Notes: Boldyreva with 4 missed layups and Liberty only makes 2 FGs in the period (2 threes). Disappointing they trail at the half with a strong defensive quarter.

We are an absolute mess on offense. Everything in close is thrown up way too hard.

Can't win when Gregory and Scott are the only ones who can find the basket.

It’s amazing to me that we can’t seem to run a double screen on offense to get Jalynn open. Just unbelievable. First time we even try to run a double is with 2 minutes left… unacceptable

Just a total disaster on offense as has been the story in every game we’ve struggled…

Well, it was a good run.
Y’all need to come to grips with the fact that it’s over.
Next year’s team will struggle to have a winning record.

That is nuts to be frank. We have the best recruiting class in program history coming in and will be outstanding once again. With that said, the focus clearly needs to be on the offense this offseason…

Stop drinking the KoolAid about the recruiting class.
This years freshmen weren’t good enough to play and now we’re going to start 3 next year?
We are not athletic enough. Our athleticism has been suffering for a few years.
We made a living on sub-200 teams.
We lost every time we played a team with a pulse.

Yeah to say we'll struggle to have a winning season is pretty ridiculous. We obviously have a lot of seniors, but Insell has proven to be a winner every year. We have a lot do talent coming back, some players that didn't get a lot of playing time this year.

That’s what folks like you said last year when we won the tournament and beat Louisville in the NCAAs. And this year, we blew out a 32-2 team in Grand Canyon, beat Liberty once (not enough times), and WKU twice. Those are all good teams. CUSA is getting better so yes we’ll face greater competition but let’s not act like the sky is falling.

We will also get a boost from having Matt as the full HC as he should be instead of having to defer to Rick’s patterns. Having to play our bench finally next year instead of getting stuck on the same 5 the whole game like Rick is famous for will help us out.

Give me your starting 5 for next year. I’m all ears.

I can't predict who will be the actual starting 5 will be, but Ta'Mia Scott will be one of if not the best player in CUSA next year. Savannah Davis will most likely be a starter and gave some really good minutes as a freshman this year. Jada Harrison has dealt with injuries the past couple of years, but anyone that has watched her can see she is really talented. The coaching staff is also really high on her potential. Milanovic and Monson showed promise in limited time this year and Nicole Dominguez at 6'10" will see a lot of time. Point is, there's talent but it's just not been showcased due to how Rick Insell plays the starting 5 all game.

Hand clap for CRI & all the championships he's had during his tenure, but he needs to step down now & let a younger generation of coach take over next season.
The truth is the slightly better team won today, & while sad it's probably for the better. I would hate to see Boldyreva, Scott, & Gregory end their career with a lopsided 30-35 point loss in a NCAA tourney first round match.
This team will be much better off with a couple of home games against weaker competition in the WBIT. There will be a nice home crowd for a more fond farewell ending.

Boldyreva wasn’t a full-time starter until she was a junior but Dominguez is gonna play major minutes from day 1?

Are you a being real right now? Nas has started all but 3 games in her career - and those off the bench were when she was injured in her sophomore season.

McClendon coming in at 6’4” will probably be a good option in the post but I’d imagine we go for Milanovic in the post, she’s also about that height.
