Nick Saban. Football. Coach K. Basketball.

Same dudes. Different sport. Wouldnt mind seeing Puke win the dance in Coach K's last year.

tonight's matchup. Puke and North Carolina. Pulling for Puke. Anybody but Villanova.

March Madness sidenote: anyone else notice how all the cheerleader squads were wearing masks at the beginning of March Madness, but now they're not? And it was a gradual shift in the virtue signalling. Came in stages. Round 1 of the playoff - masks fully on. Round 2 - masks pulled down below nose. Round 3, Sweet Sixteen - masks pulled down below nose and mouth. Round 4, Awesome 8 - masks gone. Hahaha! Nicely played, virtue signallers. Nicely played!

Anyway, go Puke.

Are you sure it's not just because all the virtue signaling teams just got eliminated? 🙂

I wouldn't mind seeing every power 5 school wrapped up in scandal and probation. I hate them all.

North Carolina was one of the preachiest. So was Puke. One night I was flippin back and forth between an ACC game and and SEC game. Dr Falsie would have loved the ACC crowd. Masked to the hilt. The SEC crowd, very few masks, not even the cheerleadera. (But for some reason the SEC cheerleaders were masked up for the 1st and 2nd round of the tourney. Mask off, mask on, mask off)

The NCAA mandated it. Anyone in close quarters to the team in the travel party, but not part of the team, was considered tier 1 and required to wear a mask. They didn’t enforce it equally across sites and removed the requirement for last week. Enforcement depended on the site location and tourney director in the town.

Really wish we could keep politics off the sports boards.

We have someone who thought it would be a good idea to use a screenname that says Democrats are fascist…on a MT sports board.

I’m not sure anyone that extreme, either right or left, can help themselves.

Did you mean to say "really wish we could keep politics out of sports"?

If so, I'm right there with you, buddy. I miss the days when we could enjoy watching sports without being preached at by lefties and told what a horrible country America is. Don't start none, won't be none, right? They started it, and they won't stop until people like me and you tell them we're tired of their nonstop virtue signaling. They ruin everything. Hell, I can't even take my grandkids shopping for Legos anymore without being preached at. It's gotta stop.

Back to topic - Coach K, love him or hate him, was dominant in the world of NCAA basketball. I wish he could have won just one more. And I wish we could have watched March Madness without all the preaching.

So the NCAA mandated it, but left enforcement up to site location and tourney director. So if the site location didn't have a mask mandate, the teams didn't have to abide by the NCAA mandate. That makes total scientific sense.

Can we stop talking about politics on the board? No one likes being preached at either way. You’re mad about the left side doing the thing you hate while doing the same thing just from the other direction. It’s annoying and not wanted here.

Many years ago, I stopped using the Delphi board when it was overtaken by political impositions. This is nothing like that, YET. Even if I agree with your politics, it still feels dirty in a sports discussion. I just scroll past it because a comment only invites more comments. (Which I probably just did)

Okay, I can't resist. I am commenting on your comment because the comment was inviting.

Sure. I will stop when the lefties stop. Bark up their tree, not mine. They started it and they keep getting worse. Your other option is to change your settings to where you cant read my comments. Why dont you give that option a try?

You are literally complaining about the exact thing you are doing. Maybe not watch the tournament if cheerleader masks really bother you?

I hate the left just as much as the next guy. Their views and policies are unsustainable and a stain on the moral fabric of our society. Not to mention flat out dangerous, too.

but there’s a time and a place. We should try to keep on topic with sports here. I know it’s hard to resist sometimes but take solace in the fact that the biggest red wave in history will apex this November. Gambling odds indicate a total blood letting in both the house and senate. I don’t believe a democrat is favored right now to win a single senate seat, maybe 1. They are under dogs in nearly every governors race. The house is a done deal with Republicans a -800 favorite to win the house and -400 to win the senate. They will win and control both easily.

The far left and woke crowd is about to get the biggest wake up call in history. Sure, they will double down and continue to call for defunding the police etc. but they will do so as minorities in both the house and senate. Biden will be a complete lame duck his final 2 years in office.

in 2024, Republicans are -150 to win 2024 presidential election. So all 3 chambers are up on deck and a likely possibility at this point. We just have to weather the storm for now. So again, take solace in the fact that their day of reckoning is coming where they will pay and pay dearly for their asinine positions and policy proposals that they have tried to stuff down our throats.

and go blue Raiders ! Fire McPhee !

Pointing out the woke hypocrisy and their killjoy tendencies is not complaining. Their virtue signaling doesn't bother me. I think it's funny, in a disturbing sort of way. And what the eff is wrong with talking about masking inconsistency during March Madness? Why does that bother you so much that causes you to want to control what others are allowed to post?

Sports have *always* been a platform for political and social activism. Since long before Colin Kaepernick, before Tommie Smith and John Carlos, before MLB players joined the protests against segregation, even before Jesse Owens and Hitler.

Some outrageously boring takes in here, but makes me feel that much better about the side I'm on...

Because this is a MT sports message board and the post has absolutely no ties to MT in anyway.

It’s not about control, maybe it’s about courtesy to other’s opinions. That whole due unto others thing.

It’s pretty clear that even those that agree with you don’t think those types of posts belong on this page. Try the around the cooler - we literally have a forum for stuff like this.

the thread topic is about Coack K's success. It's not even about MT sports. Is that allowed? During the thread, the maskon/maskoff inconsistency was mentioned by me. Kinda like mentioning any other extracurricular activity related to the sports event that may have happened off the court.

Still can't understand why they just can't block my posts from their view instead of trying to intimidate me into silence. That's an option, right? Can't they (and you?) just block my posts from view. You don't wanna see my comments, and you don't want anyone else to see them either. Sounds like control to me. How 'bout you just control your settings?

So you're equating Jesse Owens to the likes of the South Carolina women's team. You on the side of Owens or are on the side of the Lady Gamecocks?

I'm sure I'll get a great laugh out of how you imagine that they are on opposing sides, but I don't believe the national anthem should be played before domestic sporting events to begin with.

NFL players weren't even on the field for the anthem as a standard practice until about a decade and a half ago.

What part of lesco Brandon in the first post was about Coach K’s basketball success?

Your second statement, “It’s not even about MT sports…”. We are on a MT sports message board.

You literally state you posted something that has nothing to do with the forum you are using, then tell others they should just ignore you when they point out it should not be in the forum.

So let me run this by you…
I think I am going to go to the Ohio State football forum and post about MT baseball recruiting. Maybe sign it both Lesco Brandon AND BLM. Then when they tell me to leave, stop, or suggest I post in a different forum, I should tell them that they are trying to control me and they should just ignore me. That makes sense to you right? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that logic right? If there is, please let me know before I do it.

This is a sports board. Post what you want, but I think the Water Cooler is more appropriate for political opinions. Some of us actually want to have a place where we can get away from politics.

The South Carolina women’s team were not out there during the semifinal game’s national anthem when it was 8-10 minutes before tipoff. During the national championship’s anthem they were out there standing because it was right before tipoff. I do not like protesting the anthem, but it cannot be known for sure that is what they were doing. Either way all of your posts seem to have some sort of political message. Not what most want to see on here outside of the boards for that.

It's very easy to ignore someone's post. There are a couple ways you can do it. The first way is the way is mentioned in post #13 above. But if you just lack the discipline or if your chain is easily yanked of if you find yourself triggered by the mentioning of cheerleaders and masks, then you can also click on someone's username and then click "ignore". I just ignored several posters here. Not because I don't want to read their comments. I did it as a favor to them.

I'm hoping by ignoring them, that means they won't be able see my comments anymore. So hopefully I did for them what they refused to do for themselves. Kinda like a greenie weenie who refuses to voluntarily stop using fossil fuels. They scream and gripe about how we only have 10 years left to save the earth, but they won't voluntarily stop using combustible engines. They instead want gov't to force them to stop using combustible engines. It's not enough for them to make changes to their own lives; they wanna force everyone else to do the same.

Hopefully by choosing ignore on these posters, I have given them their safe space.

Back to topic - Coach K was dominant. Wish he could have went out with one more win.

How do we find the Delphi board?

If someone wants to voluntarily put on their own dunce cap, I say let them...

Well, damn. Zreed,I just noticed your reaction to my last post. That means you can still read my comments even though I put you on ignore.

Sorry, Man. I thought by ignoring you, you would not be able to see my comments. I tried to give you your safe space so you wouldnt be triggered by the mentioning of cheerleaders and masks.

Anywhooooo....if you want your safe space, simply put your cursor over my screename and click "ignore".

Not once have I told you what to say or do or said anything about being triggered.

I pointed out the long history of sports as a platform for political and social activism, you asked a question about Jesse Owens and the Lady Gamecocks, which I answered.

You're the one that ignored me, I don't see how I'm the one that needs a safe space, but go off...

Dimsar, you can do what you want but at least make political statements on the correct board. This isn’t the place for it.
