Bsb: Middle Tennessee vs Iowa Series

Is parking free for the baseball games?

I'm working in the Murfreesboro area until the 15th and am thinking about hitting one of the baseball games either this weekend or definately during the UAB series. I haven't been to a baseball game since I graduated in 2005. I've never seen a game in the "new" park.

Looking forward to a MT triple header Saturday!!!

Women's basketball game starts at 10:30 Saturday for those who didn't know. Shouldn't be any issues parking for that and you can just walk on over to Reese Smth once the game is over.

dnj:

...The matchup features contrasting strengths, as MTSU boasts one of
Conference USA's best offenses in the early going. Iowa, which has the
best record in the Big Ten, has one of its conference's best pitching
staffs.

MTSU is leading C-USA in slugging percentage (.432) and
on-base percentage (.402). The Blue Raiders are third in batting average
in the league at .303. Right fielder Brad Jarreau leads the league and
ranks 36th in the country in batting average....

Middle Tennessee gets opportunity vs. 7-1 Iowa

Iowa blog, Black Heart/Gold Pants:

...Iowa Notables So Far: First, the entire pitching staff, which has the fifth-best team ERA in the nation, at 1.30. Heading into the season I was most excited about Calvin Mathews returning, and although he was placed in the third slot in the rotation,
Mathews has indeed returned with some early gusto, posting a 0.75 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Opponents are batting just .214 against him, and slugging only .286. Tyler Peyton took over Mathews' spot at the top of Iowa's rotation, and all he has done is average a strikeout per inning pitched, post a 1.20 ERA, and hold opponents to an even lower .212 batting average and .269 slugging percentage. I suppose we'll have to settle for Hickman's 2.03 ERA in the middle spot in the rotation. Life is hard.

The bullpen has been 1990-Cincinnati-Reds-lights-out so far. The only standout (but not in the sense you would think) is Connor Grant, who has surrendered 4 ER in 8.0 IP (4.50 ERA). This stands out because all of Iowa's other relievers have combined for a 0.33 ERA thus far (1 ER in 27.2 IP).....

IOWA VS MIDDLE TENNESSEE: PREVIEW AND GAME THREAD

Those last few innings of game 2 were freezing. Good pitching always beats good hitting. MT's bullpen couldn't throw strikes in game 2. I'm curious to look at both box scores. We had a few guys that had to go like 1-8 or 2-9 today.

And of course GBR.com has the game 2 box score up with one of the box scores from the UNO series.

Final 9-8. Nice to avoid the sweep. Glad to see the bats finally came to life.

I was told that the last two or three pitchers Iowa threw yesterday were position players. Can anyone confirm? If so, takes a little of the luster off of the great (?) comeback.

No that is not true, Iowa threw Vandermaten, Radtke, and Shulista.

Vandermaten and Radtke have been used quite often this year. Radtke just had no control for whatever reason.

Shulista is a guy who struggled last year quite a bit and this was his second appearance of the year. It appears his struggles still may be there.

Thanks for the response; I feel just a little better about avoiding the sweep.
