Just read that 9k tix are still available for the UT/Bowling Green game. I am pretty shocked by this. I think it shows that attendance issues are everywhere. I for one am not gonna worry about it anymore. I will be there. I will bring friends. I will have a good time and no longer wring my hands about attendance.

Can't believe that the Cumberland River Mercenaries (Nashville NFL team) are advertising for season ticket sales at this late date. With the Marioata (sp?) buzz you would think they would have sold out long before now.

We may be seeing the accelerating affect of the ESPNing of the college and professional sports world where the primary purpose of a venue is as a TV studio.

The home experience has exceeded the experience of going to the game. I'd much rather sit in my mancave with a beverage of my choosing watching dozens of games in a plush recliner in 60inches of HD than have to take out a 2nd mortgage to buy season tickets, the hassle of driving in to a game and parking, sit in an uncomfortable seat in a frying pan (or freezer) with drunks and obnoxious people to watch a team that looks like ants play a game that might end up being a blowout.

I don't know what the future of the game holds, but this isn't a trend that's going to stop, IMHO.

The days of selling out just more and bigger stadiums are over. If that's the benchmark you're going for, you're missing the target.

I actually think that a school like MT might be in a good position here. We have one of the few offerings that's still going to be pretty family and budget friendly for the foreseeable future.

We need to continue to progress as a program though, and we need to continue to look into ways to offer added value to tickets.

Live game attendance needs to be made into a more entertaining experience everywhere. The Sounds, when they first started, were great at this by giving away several used cars during the game, entertainment, etc. They would give away good prizes each inning based on a number on your program. Maybe a pre-game concert in the grove or the grass near Greenland Dr. parking lot. I know we tried with Big Boi but that was a while ago but I am afraid it still is a punch line for failed marketing and made the administration gun-shy to experiment with other things.

I saw where vandy still had about 10k tickets last week for their opener. Not surprising. For those hoping that the vandy game at Floyd will be our first sell out/SRO game, I think you will be disappointed.
