And with that win...

Not going to discredit the man, but you do realize Kermit Davis has been at MT for 12 years, and if you take out tourney games, that gives him an average of 17 wins per season over 12 years, most of which were spent in one of the worst Basketball conferences! Just pointing out facts, which you may not like if you blindly support him!

MTLover: There have been a few cases where a coach took longer that some would like to "hit his stride". No doubt the first half-dozen or so of Davis tenure were not much better than the Farrar and Weil years. Combine that with the high player turnover and not very many fans were happy, and deservedly so.

But, I don't see how you can argue with the last four years. He has found out how to recruit to his style and to the level we are. Exciting times, record numbers of wins, the run in the NIT, victories over both UT-K and VU, and now the tournament run this year after the awful start with so many new players (and few returners). Since the late January trip to Texas (11 games ago) our worse loss was an 11 point loss to conference champion LaTech. IMHO, and I've been watching MT BkB for a long time, Davis' coaching job this year is the best since Bruce Stewarts' first year - that was a long time ago. With what we have now and what is already signed I'm expecting us to be very competitive for the next few years.

Kermit Davis, I for one will keep him for a few more years.

Like I said, I am not discrediting his accomplishments over the last couple of years (although I still think a better coach couod've done more with that talent) but to just use the number 250 and poke people's eyes with it is not a very objective way of assessing his tenure! I have reserved criticism and praise all season long, because I felt he deserved a whole year before we judge him. Thanks for the kind reply. Go Blue
