Jackson / Madison County had a “7” when I was still in HS.I remember my car with the 8 on the tag for years.

Heck they just had the water towers painted with MT.I was visiting family in Cookeville over Christmas and as I got off I-40 at Willow Avenue, there is a very nice "Welcome to Cookeville, Home of Tennessee Technological University" sign. I like how Bowling Green has same type signs visible from I-65. I wonder why Murfreesboro/Rutherford County doesn't do something like that.
I've never understood that. I've said before I hate Virginia Tech, but I love Blacksburg. It screams college town. VT on every business and the bridges on Rt 460 coming in are painted orange with maroon plants in the median. Schools size/conference shouldn't matter. Shoot, even little Athens near me, home of D2 Concord is covered in maroon and silver, as is where I live with D2 Bluefield State. HBCU signs all over town.I was visiting family in Cookeville over Christmas and as I got off I-40 at Willow Avenue, there is a very nice "Welcome to Cookeville, Home of Tennessee Technological University" sign. I thought the Fayette county line was considered the DMZ. 🤣
Central Ave. east of Hollywood and Simmons First Liberty Stadium. “Cease fire zone” 😂
Bucees is probably going to improve traffic flow on Joe B (it’s impossible to turn left on Joe B coming from Epps at 5pm). I work off Epps Mill and that would be an absolute disaster. There’s quite a bit of improvements coming to Joe B to handle the influx of traffic (should have already been done imo).I believe MTSU was about 15-16K students when I graduated in 2000. Crazy how this place has ballooned up, but I don't feel our infrastructure has kept the pace, especially the roads.
Now we have Bucee's coming to Joe B, which I am dreading. That is where I get on I-24 and that interchange is a mess as it is. I don't oppose the Bucee's, I just wish it would be one exit down at Epps Mill Road or add continuous on and off ramps.
Shayne McFarland recently said that they want to improve that relationship. When discussing the minor league baseball stadium, that’s not happening now, he said the one sports facility that needed public partnership in the city was the Murphy Center. I feel like if we had different leadership at the university the city/county would be more willing to work with us.If you didn't know MT was in Murfreesboro, you would never even know it existed. City leaders take MT for granted. They have for years.
