FOOTBALL 2020 season breakdown/recap!

Back when we had a 12 game schedule, before Duke, Vatech, et al, all disappeared and scramble was on to replace them with whatever, I had predicted 4-8 result for 2020.

The humiliation in the Army game, with Army scoring every possession, was punctuated by Stockstill's AWOL time management during the last minute and a half of the first half and the whole game fighting and fooling with his damn mask which continued into more games as the season progressed. Stock was the butt of jokes nationally. The blow out at home against Troy was equally as bad. The three 'memorable' wins were nothing but jokes played on the MT fan base. FIU, a talented squad but sorely lacking a QB in their 3 deep, could not beat this pathetic version of the Blue Raiders. Rice, only lost because of a incredible quadruple doink failed FG to win the game. The odds of the failed kick in that manner was something like 10 million to one. Troy game #2 was the result of a talented, but not particularly bright group, of what passes for student athletes, being extremely over confident just not showing up.

This team really deserved to finish with a big 0 in the win column, only to be foiled by three opponents incredible ineptness, bad luck, and not showing up ready to administer an unprecedented second beatdown of the season.

It was a tragedy for MT fans. really. If those 'wins' had not happen, who knows if a dispirited stockstill would have thrown in the towel.

As far as 2021, I am not hopeful of any kind of turnaround. I don't see an coming influx of talent, or much on the current roster stepping up to play at an level above what we've seen the last two seasons.

Most of MT fans in my circle were rooting for MT to lose all the games last season. If there are virtually no significant changes over the winter and I don't think there will be, I likely be rooting for Stockstill to go 0 for 12 in 2021. I think it's likely that there will a maximum ceiling for this team of 3 wins.

I've said if Stock was still here for 2021, I would not renew my season tickets (I have bought season tickets since 1979). That is still my plan this coming fall.

Stockstill needs to be fired. I've stated that for quite awhile. As long as he is coach here MT will never see a championship or maybe even a winning season (that rests on how much longer CUSA remains a bad football conference more than it does Stockstill).

To have any expectation of results better than what we have seen in 2019 and 2020, I have to be shown a rock solid argument to convince me and I don't think there is an argument out there that can raise hope or expectations.

I don't know who Matt is, but that article wasn't exactly very enlightening. You could have read the final scores and wrote that article. And what does he base his assumption that Stock will help compete for a division championship? The dwindling talent level, the declining fan support or the lack of any interest in leadership to stop the program from completely falling apart?

I agree. Was the coach or AD asked how they plan to right this ship? What steps are being taken now to improve our talent level? Seems this would have added some depth to the article.
My guess is no one associated with the program dares ask the tough questions.

Right what ship? No one involved believes there’s a problem.
