FB RECRUITING MTSU adds priority offensive tackle target

Middle Tennessee lands the commitment of priority in-state offensive tackle Kyle Larkin

G5 Playoff

I still think all champs should make it, one can dream anyway.

But I honestly wouldn't fuss at a G5 playoff where the champ went to the CFP. It would bring tons of eyes to programs like ours and give everyone a legitimate shot at something other than a random bowl. But that is A LOT of games.

Say 8 G5 teams make it. That's 3 games just to determine the G5 champ. Then it's 5 more to the National Champ. Say a G5 team does that. That is 21 games. No way kids can do that.

It needs to become 4 conferences with 16-18 teams each, 6 teams make a G5P, and you possibly even go down to 11 reg season games.
Playing a whole playoff just to get in another one would wear down a team and then you add on the fact they would be playing a P4 team right after

Updated Floyd capacity

While we are at it, let's do something like this. Freaking awesome.

VT has always installed cushions/backs for season ticket holders (I bought someone's when we played there) but these are even better than those.

Lose a few hundred seats and space them a bit and I'd guarantee we'd come out ahead as people would pay a bit extra once we get a good fan base going again.

Former MTSU Punter Kyle Ulbrich Shooting His Shot

Great job.love it.

Old friend of mine had a couple years in minor league and a couple call ups to the majors.

One year, he was playing some Mexican leagues just to stay relevant. He went out to Opryland hotel for MLBs media week years ago with nothing but cards and hands open to any team.

It worked. His jersey is retired at the sounds and has a color analyst at a current MLB team.

It can pay off.

G5 Playoff

In my opinion, I think it eventually comes to be that there is a G5 playoff. I'd imagine top rated one still makes CFP but it would make it a lot more worthwhile as bowl games start to take another step back in value to programs

FOOTBALL CUSA Kickoff Notebook: “This is not a rebuild..."

You're pretty much spot on. It has nothing to do with what we the public thinks either way. And bottom line no matter how the events read out it is still a misdemeanor charge.
It's been close to a week since said incident. Looks like he's still on the team. There may be a suspension. If so I would anticipate the Tech game, but in the best interests of protecting our QB should be back for Ole Miss.
I think we're all ready to move on, & let CDM make his call.
His court date is set for August 9th. Kinda seems soon after that could feel like a soft deadline to see something happen of a roster spot. Worth noting Derek Mason was in Frisco for media days during these happenings

I agree with part of what you say but I guarantee you this coaching staff would be the one who cares if Ethan doesn't get to play. You have two guys on the OL who you can trust to consistently give you good play right now in Julius Pierce at center and Ethan Ellis at left guard. You said it yourself the line was not good last year and you lost the good players from that unit to add on to that this offseason. This staff is starting to bring in the talent but up front is the one spot where you don't play for a little bit to develop typically no matter what. I'm not going to argue whether Ethan should stay on the team or not as it's not my decision but it would be a brutal blow if it ends up being he won't be playing. I'm not worried about the OL long term with this staff (in fact I really like the class they should sign up front in 2025) but in the short term MTSU just doesn't have the veteran talent yet to just be next man up on the OL

We will be throwing to the TE a lot more which keeps the LB's more honest and playing under center more. More conventional offense. Less no huddle spread b ball on grass BS which gave us 45 second offensive series. More possession ball. That alone improves us. Our line was utter sh!t last year. No way it's worse this year. Polly was the worst OL coach I've ever seen. No tech at all. In the spring I saw more tecnique on the OL than I've seen in YEARS. Literal years. We have plenty of OL with size. More size than we've had in years. We will be fine. The recruiting for next year is already light years ahead of what Stock did here and we will have the new facility. Then we hit warp drive for 26. If Ellis hasn't already been dismissed, it's an internal matter and he's still balling. If he's gone, next man up. We won 4 games last year. He's not a NFL 1st rounder anyway. Nobody cares, work harder.

Speaking of increased tight end usage for the Raiders. I think Holden Willis could have even a bigger year than in 2023. He finished with close to 50 catches with multiple TD's on an offense not specifically oriented for a TE. Willis has deceptive speed for his size, & has perfect height at 6' 4". However he was a bit thin in my opinion. If he could bulk up close to 225-230 lbs range could see someone giving him a shot in the NFL.
We've talked about a number of the offensive weapons MT has this year. With our new scheme be wise to not sleep on Willis tearing it up on the field again this year.
To the point of the person talking about throwing to tight ends more in this offense, I would tend to agree but I wonder what that looks like post Holden. I think Holden will get a ton of targets as a flex tight end this year. Especially with no true slot guys guaranteed to be starting or anything like that this season

Starting offensive lineman Ethan Ellis detained after incident

I never said I would be immediately fired or talked about a wrongful arrest. Of course the company would suspend first and not make a snap decision. However, if it is legit, he would 100% be let go in a lot of different professions. Whether yall agree with that or not is a completely different matter.

Let’s be real though, this kid is most likely not going to be wrongfully arrested and booked. He was on Broadway and you’ve really got to go out of your way to get arrested down there. If it were a first time I would feel differently about it but it is a trend with him.

Also, I never said what I would recommend happen with him. I’m just a fan, I’ll still be at the games if he is playing or not. My original comment was directed at him being “young and dumb”. First time issue and I’ll buy that, any more and you can’t claim ignorance in my book.

You literally said you will get fired from your job if arrested.

I don’t think you are intentionally gas lighting, I was just going off that comment as written.

Back on topic, yeah he’s not making good decisions at the best and may deserve serious discipline at the worst.

Even in Tennessee and other at will states, you have legal recourse if you are fired due to a wrongful arrest.

One, you would have a lawsuit against the jurisdiction the arrest was made in.

Two, even in at will states, employers can be sued for breach of contract, depending on the terms of contract. Thats why state institutions often suspend on arrest and don’t immediately fire for breach of morality clause.

You have one year to sue in Tennessee to recover lost wages, damage to reputation and for emotional stress.

Side note: what kind of shitty organization would fire someone immediately without at least gather facts?
