CUSA Naming Rights

to get best bang for the buck it may be best to offer a contract combining naming rights for both football stadium & basketball arena combined.
This is a great idea! I know we’ve got some naming rights options available right now but giving someone that opportunity would be enticing for every company. I wouldn’t stop there, I’d say offer it for every athletic field and try to get a lot for it. I would think a company that could have their name plastered on every sport of ours would bring in a good offer. I don’t know of any school that’s done it for both BB and Football let alone all fields/courts.

FOOTBALL Craziest/worst conditions you’ve been in for a game?

This is my answer. I was wearing a pair of Chuck Taylor’s that provided zero water protection and I still don’t think my feet have fully thawed out. Truly miserable conditions.
@WKU 2008, 40ish degrees drizzling, high winds. Two of my professors(married), who were very outspoken in support of Blue Raider athletics but were primarily in attendance to support their son who was in the Band of Blue thankfully left after halftime and gave me a poncho and gloves, I might have underdressed...

CUSA Naming Rights

Just looked at naming rights for a number of pro stadiums for 2023-24. Many are currently between $2-$6 million annually.
Being a G5 college, & to get best bang for the buck it may be best to offer a contract combining naming rights for both football stadium & basketball arena combined.
Would $500k annually on a 5 year contract be in the ball park for a school our size?
UNT gets $1.4m/yr for theirs in a 15yr deal.
SJSU gets $580k.
Ark St gets $500k

So it's a bit all over the place but could be done. Even $500k would cover half of CDM's salary. That's a huge help.

BASKETBALL McDevitt on WGNS

You need a top 20 NET.

Last year our ladies played 2 Q1 games in the regular season. If you want to host, we need a similar record, but way more Q1&2 games and wins. We only played 6 Q1&2 games combined before the NCAA.

Gonzaga, who is probably the closest to us in terms of hosting and not in a power conference, had a similar record and went 4-2 and 8-1 versus Q1&2 pre NCAAs.

Thats a HUGE difference in schedule difficulty.

That’s something Matt brought up on the podcast. Said if they want to accomplish that goal, they can’t have any hiccups like they did with a couple games early on last year. But getting a big win in one or two of those neutral games could go a long way
UCLA is the preseason #5 team in America. Iowa St is preseason #10.
Against UCLA I would be hoping for a good competitive game with minimally biased referee's. That would be an upset which would put us in top 15, but unfortunately I think that’s a real long shot. Absolutely loaded with talent.
Against Iowa St I would give us a solid 50/50 chance if on a truly neutral court. A victory here, & against Purdue would give us an excellent starting point to the year.

True. Don't think Middle will ever get to host, the margin is just too slim from year to year for a mid-major

CUSA Naming Rights

The first local company for naming rights I would go after would be undoubtedly Smyrna ReadyMix Concrete, LLC. Their $3 million donation to the athletic department was one of the largest in Build Blue history. Knowing we already have one of the top Concrete based degree programs in the nation makes for a perfect tie in to the university. Plus SRMC is no small company. They serve customers in 19 states, functioning with numerous subsidiaries, & as SRMC calls it employees 8,300 team members.
The RMC Johnny Red Floyd Stadium sounds like a perfect match to me.
Would be my first choice as well but companies like Cracker Barrel, Dollar General, HCA, Nissan, St. Thomas, Asurion all come to mind
