WKUsports.com used this phrase to promote saturday's game at MTSU. DOes anyone actually say that? I dont remember hearing it when I was a student and I think it is dumb. It must stop now.

It's a shame Parker Hughes isn't playing. I've said since the first time I saw him on the field that he was going to be a star for us. Even when he was just a walk on and had not earned a ship yet and just played here and there. It was so apparent that he was a really good LB from the moment he stepped on the field. An absolute tackling machine with some of the best instincts at the position we've seen here at MT.

Now he's a first team Phil Steele CUSA pre-season LB with real potential to play on Sunday's if he can get just a little bigger. And he's bloody injured and not playing in the most important game of the year. Damn shame. He's a game changing X factor and not having him, in my opinion, will probably be the difference on Saturday.

FOOTBALL G5 Needs A Collective Ultimatum

I worry about the future of college football & specifically for us. Seems like not long ago Brent Stockstill had us beating SEC Mizzou, and even dating back to last season when the Mizzou game was a one possession ball game all the way up to the final play of the game & that mizzou team went on to be a top ten team. Then you see the difference just a year makes, a 49 point loss to an SEC power. CFB landscape changes fast. These competitive G5 v P5 matchups are going to be sorely missed, part of what makes college football what it is. I am hoping last Saturday's result was moreso chalked up to misses in the portal/mass roster turnover & not an indication of the future for schools like us. I think we can definitely stay competitive because Coach Stock's 4 win team last year had Mizzou on the ropes, surely we can get back to that at least with new facilities coming & the new staff. I believe in this staff but we have to be better, there are other teams who got hit by the portal hard but have been better than we have been through two games.
Welcome to the board!

Again hate to beat a dead horse, but just a smidgen of watching film from last year would have shown putting Willis in motion was absolutely successful! If he doesn’t get the ball he sure pulls some attention opening up others!
Completely agree. If the offense isn’t opened up this week, then a lot of conversations will be very different imo

The struggle for football coaches (and probably all of us) is we ALL believe our way is the best way of doing it. Coaches believe their scheme is the best way to use personnel, attack defenses, etc.

Ken Whisenhunt (when he was HC of Titans) was the perfect example. He always seemed to think he was smartest guy in the room, even when the offense was falling apart & they were losing games right / left.

Traitors

Ok. First, I freaking love that they do this.

Second...Marcus Miller has THE perfect TV/radio voice.

Last...I agree. Just sad. Keep embarrassing them till they learn.
Funny you say that because Marcus comes as a Journalism major. He’s not just BSing it either as he interned with Vegas Sports Today doing film breakdowns as part of their Raiders content and I want to say he did something with wrestling

When I talked with him after he committed, part of his decision was due to the fact that he could grow his brand in sports media here

Another NCAA Lawsuit

The funniest thing of all about this is everybody looking for a 'Fix' or thinking one will come from DC. There's reason there was a book written a few decades ago called Parliament of Whores. Theres been nothing to improve their reputations since then. All it is now is a protection racket where the problem or enforcers never goes away, but they sure take the money to promise they will go away.

No way, the rich and powerful trying to stick it to the little guy ? Never seen that before
They are all in cahoots against us anyway.

The NCAA spent almost $3m on lobbying in 2023. The Power conferences and NCAA combined have spent over $15m the last 5 years. SEC Sankey and B12 Yormark have both been to DC this year.

All that isn't being done for the benefit of the little guys for sure. It 100% is a what can you do for me meeting with the DC elites.

Wins like NIU's over Notre Dame will be especially rare with how transactional college football has become. Loyalty is out, money is in. And the G5 might be be...

Another NCAA Lawsuit

They could and may still do that but, it

a) doesn't abdicate them from the responsibility of being signatories to a body that completely failed it's mandate/mission. The NCAA single-handedly destroyed the premise of amateur athletics. In other words, the lawsuits would still persist; and

b) they're trying to avoid further anti-trust legal jeopardy by reaching this settlement (while simultaneously and audaciously sticking more of the burden of the costs as a percentage of revenue onto institutions with less resources). It's a have cake and eat too pile of crap the P4 is trying to force onto everyone. As usual.
