TSU vs MTSU 9-17-22

That may be the game I pick to drive down to. Bringing a couple buddies who have never been to MT. Want to see it all now and again after the upgrades are done. They are both used to 65k at WVU games so I'd like to bring them to a not empty stadium. Lol.

I like this one a lot. Should draw a great crowd.
At one time this game would draw a capacity or close to capacity crowd but I'm not sure anymore. My impression is that TSU crowd size has been dropping for both FB and BkB. It seems as if TSU's once loyal fan base has died out, succumbed to Titanmania, or moved on to the allure of some "Power School".
I don't mean to speak for the Black community realizing that for some HBCU schools their games and special "classics" are unifying social events but it seems not quite as much in north Nashville.
It is a shame that, 20 +/- years ago when MT went D-1, there were two local schools fans would have thought a home game would draw large crowds: TSU and VU.
Not so much anymore.

They will be 0-2 and just coming off a beating in Memphis from Jackson St, probably not a good crowd unless playing at night and some other events happening

The TSU "Fanbase" hasn't gone anywhere, it has just grown tired of being force fed opponents that we have absolutely 0 interest in...Mark my words, TSU will be your most attended game this season!

Man, the TSU series takes me baaaaack.
Y’all better lean back when I start singing in with “I’m so glad……”

I could tell some stories about the recruiting battle between Memphis St. and TSU for Covington’s Ronald Holland back in the day. Played against Ronald two years in HS. He was a year behind me. His kids have done extremely well athletically and financially. 😉

Fun local game. I'm going to aim to be at the game in Miami (though I'll be rooting for the Canes).

See, that's what I like about MTSU, Some of ya'll don't hide your feelings for anything that effects TSU, that's good! That's what makes TSU fans want to play your school and beat up on your football team. You never know. One Day...lol

True Dat, But it was pretty much a back n forth game until late in the fourth quarter, I guess your fbs depth had a play in it...Fun exciting game overall though, Are yall gonna let the band perform this time?
TSU has a band?

Are yall gonna let the band perform this time?
Unless I'm mistaken, your band performed in 2019.

Should be in the game contract, but it's our Admin and contracts are their kryptonite, so who knows.

Personally, I hope your band performs. Always a good show.

One of the funniest TSU / Coach Merritt stories I’ve ever heard was told by former SIU, Memphis, UTEP Head Coach Rey Dempsey. He addressed a group of former Memphis St players after getting the job and told a story about one of his previous visits to Tennessee, more specifically “The Hole at Hale”. SIU was trailing most of the game until 5:30 remaining in the 4th Qtr when they got a safety. TSU kicked a FG with :55 remaining. Future Tampa Bay Buc, Kevin House, who had lit up the TSU secondary most of the night, got the SIU offense to the 1-yd. Line with :21 remaining when suddenly the lights went out. The place was completely dark. Coach Dempsey said after raising hell for what seemed like an hour, the lights miraculously came back on and they scored to win. House had 8 catches for 189 yds. The game lasted from 7:30-10:30 (3 hours) long before the age of TV timeouts, replay and commercials.
Good times in the old OVC. 😂😂

I was there as well and the lights did go out, I am not privy to any known hanky panky though,...TSU was not a member of the OVC at that time, Coach Merritt passed prior to TSU joining this pitiful conference, Maybe MTSU can re-join and help make it great again!!

OVC might be better than the new CUSA in a few years. We'll have to see lol

Maybe I’m wrong in this but whenever I talk to real TSU alum/fans, they are as equally frustrated with their leadership in the direction or decisions made about their program.
You can say that again, The SWAC is where to be nowadays if you're an HBCU, I feel like TSU is missing out.
