It took 6 TOs for us to beat a .500 CUSA football team by less than 1 TD. It takes a lot of mistakes (forced and unforced) by the other team for us to win.

Turnovers can really swing a game and Middle was up big yet Rick, with his playing not to lose style, looked as if he might snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

4 I suspected this would be a close game against Marshall. I think the rain hurt us more than Marshall. If we wouldn't have had to rely on our run game, which isn't good, than Chase could have thrown the ball and scrambled for big runs more. Also, the game was not as close as the final score. Stockstill tried to lose it by trying to run the clock out starting in the 4th qtr and playing prevent defense. They were going for every 4th down as well, so you knew they would be right back in it.

Not surprised at all. I had MT moneyline in a 3 teamer that cashed for 18-1 odds. $100 paid $1800. So to answer your question again. Not surprised at all, and I put up $100 in a 3 team parlay to back it up. We always beat Marshall @ home when we are big dogs. And when you examine things more closely, we found our QB @ Charlotte the previous week and I've always believed in our defense despite the poor play at Charlotte. Special teams has been decent too, we just needed to put all 3 phases of the game together which I thought we would. It's also basically a meaningless win since we already have 2 conference losses, and Stockstill is a king when it comes to winning games late in the season when we have nothing meaningful to play for. He's gotta get to his 6-6 record so we can live up to our name of "Middle" Tennessee. Always middle of the pack.

We caused more than a few of those mistakes. Cody Smith was a guided missile on that scoop and score. Also, we played in a bowl of soup last night. We weren't even supposed to be in the conversation of winning.

I predicted a 24 point loss but before the season I predicted a 5-7, 4-4 season with Marshall being the one game MT that shouldn't win but somehow does..

I dread this is going to make us 6-6 and 'a sickening 'bowl eligible' so that the AD and the President can puff out their chests like that has any special meaning to long suffering MT fans who will see the team get blown out by some MAC or Sun Belt team in a bowl that most MT fans can't get to.
