No offense, but if I cared more I would probably sign up. I've just reached the point where giving a penny for anything related to this program is one too many.

Now that assistants can have longer that one year contracts, I assume they resigned them to keep them at either two or three years at about $300K to $350K per coordinator.

The problem isn't the coaches X's and O's knowledge. It's that we only have one or two who are really pounding pavement on the recruiting trail. And worse they have failed to recruit the state which is predicated on the way the program is run, missed opportunities, lack of energy, etc. where this dichotomy is all a self-perpetuating cycle of failure.

Nothing like a lack of transparency to further damage what little public interest there is in the program. Why was this even kept secret?

Tyler,

In previous discussions, I know you have a said there will be changes, and a chorus of us have said no way just wait they really won't do anything of note. Do you believe us now?

Candidly, there's a longer version of this I'm working on, and may never release. It'll be dependent on how the on-field results playout.

To answer your question, I think it's still very possible there are big changes. And that piece will go into more depth on why I believe it can happen.

Well my source, who is very connected doesn’t have a whole lot of confidence that the changes being considered will be nothing more than a little window dressing. If Stock is “reassigned” to an office to draw out the remainder of his deal then they may as well shut it down. I can’t see another school hiring him at his age and the level that he’s recruited the last few years.

Massaro had already shared with me that he was extending Shafer’s contract last year in order to keep him. Franklin getting one too is an unpleasant surprise.

As I said before, I really feel for that GA who handles the hotel reservations.

I still don't understand what makes Shafer such a keeper? The defense has been about as good as Nix's was. This program is like the Falcons, they whole thing needs to be flushed and start over.

I read that a second time. I assume that all three stooges signed off on the coordinators' contract extensions with that kind of money involved. This kind of crap should get CRS, the AD, and the President fired. I wish we had a BoT that was more than a rubber stamp.

Our BoT is a joke. Not one person with any clout outside the city limits of Murfreesboro.

You are correct. And unfortunately the needed changes probably won’t happen. So all I can continue to do is vote with my feet and my wallet.

Does any other G5 program have both coordinators signed to contracts longer than two years? I bet there not more than a handful of P5 programs that do.

How much are we paying Shafer and Franklin now then? Based on that, it might not be too big of a deal if they clean house and have to pay out the remainder of contracts. I do think it was completely stupid to extend them though. But with MESSaro it's what I expect.

I would support a plan that moves Stock out of the HC position and puts Shafer in that role for the remainder of the season to see if he can take over going forward. Franklin however is way past his prime and he offers nothing to this program. How long can he live off his name and background? Eventually he has to produce and he hasn't. He needs to be let go. Signing like 25 WR's every year and outside of Baby Stock, we haven't had a dominant QB under Franklin's coaching.

The guys in charge are some real arrogant asses to do this in the midst of a winless season and last year's debacle.

fair enough. I retract. Let's see, that would be during/after/whenever we sank after the second UAB title game.
