I know little about WBB rankings, but how is MTSU not even in the top-25 for mid-majors? CUSA just that bad of a conference for the sport?

CUSA doesn't count as a mid-major for WBB. It is a major conference - not high major (like SEC, ACC, Big 10, etc.), but also not mid-major.
