...
MARSHALL
: Picked ninth in Conference-USA, now tied for second at 10-10 and 6-1.

A low prediction seemed perfectly appropriate when the Thundering Herd started 0-6. But it’s been no more Mr. Nice Guy in the conference schedule, with only one win under 10 points. This is the second year in charge for alum Dan D’Antoni, who got his first college head coaching job at the age of 66. Brother Mike coached four NBA teams.

Herald Dispatch:

Biggest week in 25 years

...Marshall has regained the feeling that has been missing.

It's called anticipation.

The anticipation of big home games. The anticipation of big home crowds. The anticipation of potentially big home success.

It has been missing far too long from the Henderson Center. But with Marshall hosting Middle Tennessee at 7 p.m. Thursday and, then, UAB at noon Saturday, the anticipation is back. That's because these two games will be a measuring stick for Marshall.

"I think so," said Austin Loop, junior guard. "I was talking to some of the guys and I think this is the biggest week I've been a part of since I've been a Marshall athlete. Means the most, maybe getting the most hype.

"I'm sure the fans are excited as well as we are. Thursday is for second place (in Conference USA) and if we take care of business Thursday, then Saturday will be for first."

That pretty much sums it up.

Marshall and Middle Tennessee both have 6-1 records in C-USA while UAB is 7-0. That means MU could finish the week in first place if the Herd sweeps both games.....

Better be ready Saturday night. Has anyone sent out search parties for our players who were no shows? The tougher team won. MT was not tough at all.
