LADY RAIDER BB Middle Tennessee (8-5, 0-1) vs Charlotte (10-2, 1-0), 5PM, Saturday, January 4, 2020

Charlotte is a very good basketball team and we tore them to shreds. Big win!

The Lady Raiders looked good tonight. They really took care of the ball and had only 8 turnovers. Annie, Ace, and Taylor were all hitting shots. Even though Charlotte had a few really big girls inside, they didn't do enough in the first half to get Charity and or Courtney in foul trouble early or late. Annie was weaving in and out of the other team and making sharp passes out to open players when the shot wasn't open. When she shot, she was hitting a high percentage. They have only 9 players total on the team. There are only two that don't play a lot, so 7 players and mostly 6 are going the whole way fouls and all. The Hayes sisters are great about playing tight defense without getting a lot of fouls. For the amount of contact that Charity gets into down in the post, it is amazing she doesn't get more fouls than she does. She is very adept at staying away from fouls. When a game is being called real tight for both sides, we are in trouble as Courtney and Taylor tend to get into foul trouble quickly. Alexis Whittington is becoming a super sub for about every position. She is an excellent 3 point shooter, doesn't turn the ball over and plays excellent defense. Kiya Turner is starting to get some important minutes to rest the guards. Amanda Whittington and Taylor Lewis just need to come around and be contributing by tournament time. I know the men are not very fun to watch this year. You need to come out and watch this team.

When the ladies are firing on all cylinders, they're a lot of fun to watch. It's so frustrating to see them struggle when it's obvious we really just need more true, tall post players (and some more experience for our younger folks). However, they seem to be figuring out their identity as a smaller, smarter team.
