I hope they win 70-0 to be quite honest. It's the only chance we have at seeing some change with the program.

excerpt:

...The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and Charlotte 49ers meet Saturday in a C-USA college football game at McColl-Richardson Field on ESPN3.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders look for their fifth road win of the season to snap back-to-back losses. The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders have won six of their last eight road games. Brent Stockstill is completing 63.9 percent of his passes for 2,801 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions. Stockstill has two or more touchdown passes in 10 of his last 12 games. Richie James and I'Tavius Mathers have combined for 1,763 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns while Ty Lee has 46 receptions. The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders ground game is averaging 166.8 yards per contest, and Mathers leads the way with 1,190 yards and 13 touchdowns. Defensively, Middle Tennessee is allowing 32.6 points and 435.1 yards per game. Chris Melton leads the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders with 75 tackles, Raynard Felton has 2.5 sacks and Charvarius Ward has two interceptions.

The Charlotte 49ers look for a victory after losing their last four home games. The Charlotte 49ers need to win their last two games in order to become bowl eligible. Hasaan Klugh is completing 59.4 percent of his passes for 971 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions. Klugh and Kevin Olsen have combined for 14 touchdown passes this season. Austin Duke and T.L. Ford II have combined for 989 receiving yards and seven touchdowns while Workpeh Kofa has 21 receptions. The Charlotte 49ers ground game is averaging 194.2 yards per contest, and Kalif Phillips leads the way with 828 yards and four touchdowns. Defensively, Charlotte is allowing 34.4 points and 444.8 yards per game. Nick Cook leads the Charlotte 49ers with 90 tackles, Larry Ogunjobi has 2.5 sacks and Terrance Winchester has three interceptions.

The Blue Raiders are 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss and 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. The 49ers are 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The under is 4-1 in 49ers last 5 games overall and the over is 4-1 in Blue Raiders last 5 games overall.

Charlotte is still playing for a possible bowl game and there's going to be a lot of emotion with it being the seniors last home contest. However, there's no denying the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders are the better team here and are proven on the road. It's also hard to ignore Middle Tennessee beat Charlotte 73-14 last season. The Blue Raiders and the small chalk is a strong play here, as the 49ers are likely in over their head once again.....

Totally disagree with the analysis of the game posted above. Charlotte is going to win this game going away. This team has quit and even if they hadn't, they cannot stop the run if the world depended on it and that's what Charlotte does best.

Yet another meaningless game with another meaningless result.

I think this will go a long way in determining if Stock has lost the team for the year.

Keeping a team together when you lose a leader like Brent it tough. You try to sell the fact that other team members need to step it up, rally 'round the flag boys!.

That clearly didn't happen vs a terrible Marshall team and this program under Stock has never been known for mental toughness.

It wouldn't surprise me at all of they just raised the white flag and mailed it in.

We're a better team than Charlotte, but we were better than Marshall. Charlotte is hungry and motivated, our team plays like it would rather be anywhere else except for the football stadium.

I guess I'm the eternal optimist. I think this team picks it up and wins this weekend. I will say though, if we lose Saturday then we will lose again the following week in front of minuscule crowd. But I do think we win out

Apparently, UNCC does remarkably well in the fund raising arena, and it doesn't necessarily stop with football with the McColl-Richardson connection. Check this out, just happened last Friday! $5 million dollars from the Cato Corp (Murfreesboro has two retail locations, BTW) for their College of Education: http://publicrelations.uncc.edu/news-events/news-releases/college-education-named-cato-corp This really tells us we need more big corporate money, and not settling for out of town car dealerships sponsoring first downs on the radio broadcast.

Clyde, you are correct but: Who? Hate to say it but any $$$s available are already going elsewhere and why would a new corp. to the area think they would get any ROI for giving to MT. We're stuck in a very bad place as far as fundraising (not just athletics) is concerned.

You're entirely correct! Likewise, we are stuck in "neutral" in fund raising mode and that is definitely not good. Problem is we cannot afford what is increasingly becoming standard issue in FBS schools, like indoor practice facilities and advanced stadium amenities. For instance, our scoreboard/replay screen is close to a decade old and is pretty small these days. Even some high schools these days have replay screens! We didn't get a simple second scoreboard in the north end zone until after the 2010 season, which should have been installed when new stadium renovations were complete in 1998. What happens if we find ourselves dismissing HC or other coaches for lack of winning in the future, especially football? I don't know--remains to be seen. But, lack of money also extends into the classroom in terms of bachelors and masters programs offered and terminal degree programs (PhD and EdD programs). Do we want to be a research institution or an institution that primarily serves undergraduates and in turn alums leave for more prestigious and larger universities for their advanced work (and the dollars that may go with it in alumni giving)? We're too dependent on state funding and smaller giving, which limits our reach. Marketing and promotion is not the best either, but that is yet another topic for another day.

Don't see much futuristic vision at MT these days other than some True Blue billboards along the I-24 corridor. We have plateaued (I'd submit our enrollment count as proof, mainly due to community colleges/Drive to 55 plan/lottery scholarship, etc). Whatever vision we had was largely a carry forward from Dr. Walker and an offshoot in correcting overcrowding/outdated facilities (e.g. Science Bldg) from inadequate state funding over the years along with continuous record headcount from the 1990's to early 2010's. Our university needs corporate money on multiple fronts to further both athletics and academics.

The who I would think is one or more of the following like General Motors (Nissan appears taken with other venues and universities), Dollar General Corp., Farm Bureau Federation, State Farm, a regional bank of some kind, Saint Thomas Health, NHC, General Mills, Rich's, Old South Builders, or Parks Realty. Even Murray State has CFSB Bank and Western Kentucky has Houchen's Supermarkets (Save-A-Lot and IGA branded stores in many parts of TN/KY). While it is nice to get/give many $100, $250...$1,000 donations, season tickets, and Blue Diamond gifts, money should come in donations beginning at $500,000-1,000,000 and up donations, which beyond the reach of most individuals (unless we're talking about life insurance or bequeathed giving). Our alumni giving and foundational folks need to be looking at raising another $100-250 million over the next 3-5 years (easier said than done, but I feel we are losing altitude). It seems largely the same tired formula from alums who graduated 40-60 years ago, with not much engagement in my generation (say those graduating between 15-30 years ago), and even less engagement for the Millennial generation of the 2000's and beyond. We have to expand the box or we are fading to the relevance back when we were Middle Tennessee State College and as an OVC member. If we keep our mens and women's basketball program on the upswing, it may help some. But, we do have a structural issue in that regards. We need a few Cato Corp's that will lend a hand to get us things like a professional school, such as law, dentistry, pharmacy, etc. and to support mid FBS level that can win against quality SEC, ACC, Big 10, Pac 12 competition consistently.

Were gonna get thumped. Look for a repeat of what happened @ Marshall. Charlotte BEAT Marshall this year IN Hungtington. They're going to be so pumped for this game while we have nothing to play for.

Big money on Charlotte this weekend for me.

Really depends on the play of Urzua. If he doesn't throw a bunch of INT's then the Raiders have a solid chance of winning
