While MTSU cannot sell alcohol at its game under the current TBR structure, Massaro said the idea will likely be floated when universities break up into locally controlled boards.

Under Gov. Bill Haslam's recently signed Focus on College and University Success Act, locally controlled boards would be able to set tuition rates, approve budgets, set priorities independently and more.

“I do think at some point we’d like to have that discussion,” Massaro said. “We don’t really know who our board members are.....

It would at best, be a few years off, and that depends on the makeup of an MT Board. Not sure if a board made up 90% of any governor's political appointees would do something that requires common sense or even if they did, if the state would overrule a decision and assert jurisdiction over that particular issue. The state, whenever given the option, never has purposely done anything for the best interests of this university.
 
Makes financial sense and as long as they offer a few no alcohol sections, then I don't see a problem. Might as well make money off the booze in Floyd as opposed to just having people sneak it in.
