Jacob Ivory likely out for season

Article is a little more optimistic about Richmond than Davis was on his coaches' show Mon. night. Sure would be a bonus to have him back come tournament time next week.

The good news is we actually had depth at that position. I would think Richmond would be back by Tourney time. Hopefully he can get a game in before that. We need him.

I believe he has already played in too many games to be red-shirted, but IIRC if he doesn't play in any more games (although that doesn't seem to be the plan according to Davis on his coaches' show Mon. night) he could apply for a medical red-shirt.

Wish the rules for a red shirt were more clear and the same across all sports. After they are explained to me I've forgotten them a week later and I for d--n sure can't remember where to find them in the NCAA rule book.

Don't want to add confusion to the matter. A couple of weeks ago, I thought Kermit was saying that shipped had already sailed regarding a RS for Philips this season. Last I remember years ago was that a player could get a medical RS if season ending injury after playing in 4 or 5 games with % of so many games into the season. Obviously don't hold me to that.

My impression is that Philips played in too many games for a medical RS this season. Sure would be nice if he could get a medical RS though.

It sounded as though Philips and his family were wanting him to play his true freshman season. A true freshman season that looked to be too early for the young man to develop. Than a most unfortunate injury this sophomore season just as he was starting to gain experience and develop has really hampered his progress and overall development. If a RS is out of reach this season, it will be really unfortunate and disappointing that Philips will be heading into his Jr season still with very little experience and development. Hope he can really have a productive off-season including continuing to develop muscle strength in the 'ole weight room. He appears to have the body to be a hoss!
