The president has visited his golf clubs at least 161 times since taking office and is on track to hit 294 in one term.
"I'm going to be working for you. I'm not going to have time to go play golf,” then-candidate Donald Trump promised Americans in August 2016 — but once he entered the White House, the president quickly tossed that promise out the window.
Trump has visited his own golf clubs once every five days since winning the presidency, according to the website Trump Golf Count, which attempts to track every instance the president breaks his August 2016 promise to the American people.
And those trips don’t come cheap: Trump’s golf club outings have now cost taxpayers about $91,000,000.
Of a total 161 visits to his golf clubs, the president has spent 84 days at Mar-a-Lago and 58 days at his Bedminster, New Jersey club, according to the website. If Trump continues at this pace, he will have logged in a projected 294 visits to golf clubs in four years as president.
By comparison, former President Barack Obama played golf a total of 306 times during his eight years in office.
