FOOTBALL He might make me a Titans fan

This new Titans GM really seems to know what he's doing.

He's drafting a lot of guy who have a passion for the game and high football IQ.

For example, a lot of Titans fans were high on Jalen Ramsey before the draft. He may have won the underwear Olympics known as the combine while Byard didn't get invited, but the gametape and lack of tangible production on Ramsey (3 picks in 3 years) shows a guy who is a great athlete with little actual football skills. Maybe he develops them with pro-coaching, but I'm much happier with Byard in the third, who's no slouch athlete himself and actually knows the game of football.

It's the exact opposite of the prior GM, who would take a combine freak over a tried and true football player 10 times out of 10. That's how we ended up with duds like Bishop Sankey, Justin Hunter, Jake Locker, and a whole parade of track stars who couldn't find the football if it bounced off their helmets at cornerback.

For the first time in a long long time as a Titans fan, I'm really excited about the future.

While you very well may be right about Jalen, there could be some other contributing factors to his statistical production:

1) If you shut down your side of the field, QB won't throw that way
2) He played Nickel, FS, and CB. It's kinda hard to get in a rhythm when you are moving around on an annual basis.

I'd like to see what Sankey could do in a zone blocking scheme rushing attack (like what Kubiak / Shanahan run). I think he's a much better fit for that scheme than for the power schemes the Titans have been running under Whiz (and appear to run under Mularkey)
