The MTSU football team picked up its first commitment of its 2016 recruiting class Thursday.

Kyle Banks, a rising senior quarterback from North Paulding High School in Dallas, Georgia, told The Daily News Journal that he has committed to the Blue Raiders.

Banks, 17, said he had 12 offers, including Southern Miss, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Appalachian State and Georgia State, among several others.

Spoke briefly with Kyle a bit ago but he was on his way into work and has 7-on-7's all day tomorrow. I'll have a more detailed piece on him done over the weekend though once we sit down and chat. In the meantime, there's a quick writeup on the front page now.

Interesting to note that Banks edged out 2015 MT signee John Urzua as the state leader in passing last year.
