CUSA MBB top teams ranked and previewed

Back in the early Belt days I would have been ecstatic to see MT in double digit rankings and being at 100 isn't too far away. At the time we were languishing around the 150 mark. Now that we have been around the middle double digit mark for a couple of seasons recently I would like nothing better than to return there or better. According to these early rankings we will have to be at the top of C-USA to get there.

As an aside: If recruiting stars mean anything in BkB, and I believe they do, I don't think UTEP will finish at 104 in any ranking.

Speaking of UTEP and recruiting stars. What about the last couple of years? I would have thought they would have been a lock for the dance with a win or two in The Dance with all of the talent they've had. Looks like they have even a ton more of talent coming in. They could be scary good. It's good for our conference; not so much for the days our team has to play them. That is, unless or until, MTSU starts matching that level of recruiting. That's the beauty of being in a conference with high quality programs and top performers. The other contenders and/or top competitive teams tend to rise to the higher standard to remain competitive. It's the nature of competition! One possible example, a quality 3-star recruit doesn't get on board with 4-star recruiting team. So, quality 3-star recruit plays for high level competitor in order to play said high level team and possibly best them on the court. If you want to play for a UAB type program that you just missed signing with, why not play for a similarly situated team in competition and proximity (i.e. conference) so that you can play and possibly beat so as to ultimately play at that desired level? That is unless you are Vanderbilt of course. Then all bets are off.
