With what I've seen in camp so far and with the talent we have plus TF, no way we go 6-6 IMO.
If we can beat Vandy, we can beat Bowling Green. BG has a brand new coach, depleted offense and their D is no where near what Vandy's is.
VU is the crucial early in the season.
I've watched VU's spring game and some of their fall vids and I think their D won't be as good as they were last year. Their O will be better but they are slower than we are right now. Their outside WR's are not that fast. They shouldn't get in front of us that much. They have a good ground game and their TE's are what will cause problems.
Mizzou and VU are so similar. Beating VU unlocks a lot of keys to beating the other. Mizzou's overall D is probably better right now than VU but Mason is supposedly a master of defending the spread. We've beaten Odom twice before.
As far as C-USA goes, no C-USA team has defenses on the level of Vandy or Mizzou. If we can score on them, we'll score on WKU and Marshall. If our OC could dial up a play that could punch it in from the one or convert short yardage 3rd down plays, we would have beaten Vandy, WMU and the Marshall game wouldn't have been close at all. Last year, we were a hair trigger from being a 10 win team. Franklin is twice the OC Faulkner was and I actually think our D will be better this year. I really do.
Remember in 09, we weren't predicted to do squat either and look where we ended up. I'm not that worried.
If we go 3-0 to start the season, you better look out because we could be on the verge of our best season ever. It will be interesting and I can't wait.
