Those 2 quick possessions are what I'm talking about- Fussell shots a quick 3 misses the rim but MT get the bunny layup after the offensive rebound.. next MT possession Eli shoots a quick 3.. no real ball movement and not making the defense work hardly at all.. compared to the possessions where MT moves the ball, probes the defense and gets good looks..
Mercer did a good job to close the half 11-4 run over the final ~4 mins.. MT didn't look the same once Dish went to the bench with his 2nd foul.. overall a good 1st half...
Team is so much better when they're not settling for 3's.. 3 of 11 from deep, 12 of 19 inside the arc.. only 6 TO's and only allowed 1 offensive board to the Bears.. that said Mercer missed quite a few bunnies, this game should be closer..

MT went 6 of 12 from 3 in the 2nd half- 8 turnovers in the final half (technically 9 but I'm not counting the final shot clock TO).. only gave up 4 offensive boards.. +17 on the glass & kept them under 60 points for the game, that's taking care of business

What a performance from our guys. It's nice to finally look at a box score and see good offensive numbers. Above 30% from 3 (almost 40%) and 55.4% overall. Yowza. If we shoot like that every night there won't be many teams that can beat us with this defense. As expected with our athleticism we crushed them on the boards too. FT % was uncharacteristically bad but didn't seem to hurt us. Still too many turnovers and not enough assists. Gotta work on those things.
I wasn't able to watch the game but just looking at the box score our defense put the freakin' clamps down on these guys. 31.5% overall and 23.1% from 3 for Mercer. That has to be well below their season averages and I'm sure 58 points is well below what their averaging too.
Mercer is no world beater so I'm not gonna sit here and say we are back, but we're certainly on the right track.
Bryan College should be a win but we better be ready for UT Martin. This team is not good enough to overlook anybody and I could easily see UT Martin rolling into town with upset on the mind.
@Murray State is obviously the big one but that game loses a lot of luster if we don't take care of business with UT Martin.
