FOOTBALL Byard prepares for Senior Bowl

"describing MT as an FCS school . . ." One more Dis - I was listening to Mid Day 180 (?) today - had a live report from Mobile - discussed many players - KB not mentioned - Wonder if the mid-state media even knows MT has a player in the Sr. Bowl? - We all know they don't care

I just tweeted him about that. Being a Falcons fan I see quite a bit of his foolishness on a regular basis. he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed

thedraftwire.usatoday.com:

S Kevin Byard, Middle Tennessee
I really like this kid’s game, as Byard fills both deep safety and in-the-box responsibilities with equal success. He’s a very good tackler that gets downfield in a hurry and will lay the wood when necessary, but where Byard really thrives is in his ability to read routes and break on the football. He made a leaping, high-point interception of one deep Brissett throw near the goal line, showing great concentration to reel in the errant pass.

Article on the Sr. Bowl in yesterday's (Fri.) Tennessean quoted Byard. Article was written from an NFL scout's (Titans ?) perspective.

If Byard goes in the fifth then some team got the steal of the century. I think he will go in the third. The Titans need him badly. If he is there in the fourth I would not be surprised if they snatch him up.

Is it too late to get a combine invite? He's projected as a 4th-5th rounder right now, but man, a solid showing at the combine would skyrocket him into 2nd-3rd territory.

And lord have mercy on any poor soul picked up by that clueless organization. .

Scout's Eye: 10 Names You Don't Know, But Should After The Senior Bowl

Former Cowboys scout:

Kevin Byard, S, Middle Tennessee - College tape showed the ball always ending up in his hands – he is a turnover machine. Had two interceptions in practice on Wednesday. Right place at right time type of player. Showed some ability this week to line up and play in coverage, and he will get a chance to show that talent against Ohio State tight end Nick Vannett, who has made a ton of plays in practice.

For those who didn't watch the Sr. Bowl Byard started and played the first two defensive series. Very few balls, if any, thrown his way.
How much more he played I can't say (he was not in on the third defensive series). I was switching back and forth to BkB.

Had to leave for BG about the third qtr so I didn't see the whole game but he basically rotated in every two possessions. Never saw them throw his direction. He did get some good tv time for staying home on PA and forcing the qb to scramble. Made some plays in the run game. He may have shown out too much in practice so they were scared to go his way.

Mike Mayock (analyst) had some nice things to say about KB during the game...about how the ball seems to find him...meaning he is always around the action. They were impressed with him during the week.
