Sidelines - Title of the article "Boots to re-evaluate football program, himself"

Article appeared after MT went 5-6 in 93.

"A losing season has major ramifications," Donnelly said. "It means Donnelly has taken a program that used to be good and brought it all the way down to its knees. "You don't take a program and build it and let it go down to nothing and we've taken a program that a lot of people have a lot of respect for and we've brought it all the way down in a short period of time by nothing but extremely undisciplined, poor coaching and that's something that's got to be recognized in a hurry" - Boots Donnelly

I haven’t seen this but it doesn’t surprise me one bit. The man is a coaching legend and tells it like it is. Coach and I have a mutual friend and we get together for lunch to talk nothing but football. 💙

Losing that last game to Coach Ragland probably did it for him. They were good friends but very competitive. Coach Ragland was our OC at Memphis St. before the Golden Eagles called him home in ‘79 to fix his alma mater. There are some funny stories about the rivalry between these two.

Wow ! He needs to have a talk with Stock and Massaro.
He tried to have a talk when Andy McCollum was coach and McPhee pretty much showed him the door. Someone can fill in the details but I seem to recall Boots (as our AD) having issues with Andy Mac and he either resigning or was forced to. On his way out he publicly commented on how it was hard to have any influence when the coach had a key to the president's back door.
