Well....., thus far, EVERYTHING in 2020 is unnatural!

BASKETBALL That Basketball Tournament, Jacorey Williams leads the way

In fairness, Herd That greatly benefited from the rule change at the 4 minute mark. I had read about this previously, but was the first time I had seen it in action. Certainly takes the incessant fouling by the team that’s behind out of the equation. Seth Greenberg threw Jacory some luv early...

    And so the cuts begin....

It was, a 1000% it was. Lord knows we could use a tiny bit of levity right now.

    And so the cuts begin....

Well, you clearly didn’t take the time to read the original article that generated the ensuing discussion. It was specific to one school, Iowa State, and their season ticket plan going forward. It was silent on the issue of their students attending games. Though another poster found a blog...

FOOTBALL C-USA Announces 2020-25 Bowl Lineup

Couldn’t agree with you more. Other than I think the area around Wrigley is superior. Can’t imagine ever passing on an opportunity to see any sporting event at Fenway. If from the South, it’s sporting to bash folks from the north & east. Our experience is, people from DC & Boston as...

    And so the cuts begin....

Would certainly hope so. The optics of playing college football without students in the stands would not be pretty.

    And so the cuts begin....

Regardless, the article said if the 30K season ticket threshold was met, there would be no individual game tixs sold. It said not one thing about student attendance. Whether students get in free, or pay, I find it hard to fathom no ISU students could attend games on their campus.

    And so the cuts begin....

What I found pretty interesting is if they hit the 30K season ticket threshold, there didn’t seem to be any appetite to allow students in. No idea if students at other schools pay the exorbitant fees students at MT do. Would have to believe students at most SEC/Big 10 schools would have a...

    FOOTBALL "Boots-isms"

Chip first posted that on FB last Sunday, and it was cray how quickly the Boots quote machine started flying! At least half were ones I had forgot, or had never heard of. As one person alluded to, you could likely fill up a book with Boots’isms not appropriate for a public forum. Given the...

NCAA denies request to drop Division I sport minimum

NCAA denies the 5 bottom feeder conference request for a waiver of the minimum number of teams fielded. Which is generally 16. The blanket waiver to drop below the minimum 16 sports would only be considered on a case-by-case basis. it appears the NCAA also delayed voting on the one time...

    And so the cuts begin....

Exactly! As I said in my post Sunday, financial stress/distress could alter their thinking. It’s actually the heighth of arrogance for any school to assume their world going forward looks like last year. Even SEC schools will feel the pain. The NCAA landscape by 2022-23 could be almost...

Deja Cage, who led Ole Miss in scoring last year, has signed as a grad transfer, and will be eligible next year.

    And so the cuts begin....

Hard to argue with what you put together. Though it’s likely a pipe dream Memphis & Cincy would be enthusiastic about it. Financial stress/distress could certainly alter their thinking. The only change I would like to see on your list is to drop Ark St and replace with GA St. It’s a pretty...

NCAA grants waiver for all spring-sports athletes to receive extra year of eligibility

MLB only having 5 rounds in this years draft will impact college baseball programs as well. It certainly limits options for high school seniors. Would guess they all can go the free agent route.

BASKETBALL MT adds Elias King from Miss. State/C.J. Jones leaves to play professionally

If he is able to graduate, either May or August, would look like he has 3 options: 1. Return here for his last season of eligibility. Take a few classes. 2. As a grad transfer, move to his 3rd school, for only one year. While enrolled in grad school. 3. With degree in hand, get on with your...

Can't give seniors another year of eligbility....

In the myriad articles out there, there is an acknowledgement that there are various issues to work through. Mainly the fact all sports have scholarship caps and going forward, those caps in all respective sports will need to be adjusted upward. The NCAA doesn’t usually get things right, but...
