FOOTBALL Week Two Depth Chart

Where is Ethan Ellis ???

and where is Marvae Myers ???? I refuse to believe he isn't starter material. adamantly disagree with this decision.

I wonder if Pierce and Bodiford are done for the year. Our OL is going to get absolutely destroyed. It could be as bad as the Hawaii bowl.
According to the box score Marvae just played special teams last week so could be banged up. They definitely plan to use Myers this season in a big role imo. Losing three starters up front is definitely rough like you mentioned. A young name to watch is Zach Clayton. True freshman that had a pair of penalties last week but also showed a lot of good things and I want to say lined up at both tackle spots. Staff is high on him and he’s shown flashes of why he was sought out among all the top G5s

I wonder if Ellis is possibly being disciplined for his downtown Nashville incident?

FOOTBALL INSTANT ANALYSIS: Middle Tennessee earns victory over Tennessee Tech behind final drive

We were beaten in literally every phase of the game except the final score. Give me some of what y’all are having.

Exactly.

TTU faced the same problems we did with a brand new coach and bringing in transfers at key positions. They also lost their starting QB and had to roll with the backup. They had to sit around for 2.5 hours with a weather delay also.

Zero excuses. We got outplayed for a good portion of the game and barely escaped with a W. It is not a good sign anyway you try to rationalize it.

FOOTBALL Middle Tennessee (1-0) vs #6 Ole Miss (1-0), 3:15, Saturday, September 7, 2024

I can't see this offense scoring unless it's late 4th qtr garbage time against Ole Miss' third string.

They're trying to run a Boise State offense without Boise State caliber players. If you can't do better than 2-something yards per carry against an FCS on an offense that's predicated on run first will we even get to 50 yards against an elite defense? This one is going to get ugly fast.

I'll go 63-7.

My exact thoughts as well.

I wonder if we are going to even try to win the game or just treat it like a scrimmage.

Lane and Brumfeld LOSE

Yes, which is why their ranking was so absurd. Both they and Clemson are paper tigers (pardon the pun).

Miami probably finally wins ACC this year though to be honest its pretty wide open. NC State may have a chance after they get flogged by Tenn this weekend.
Preseason rankings are absurd to begin with. But we could probably have a whole thread on that.

I find it super ironic that the two "biggest values" in the ACC are awful this year, a TV contract year with ESPN having to opt in to the extension. Sure it is just one year and they are extremely valuable brands overall, FSU especially, but it still is hilarious bassackwards karma.

FOOTBALL Week Two Depth Chart

NOTES:

- Ethan Ellis, Parker Hughes, Drew Francis, and Marvae Myers not listed. It is worth saying that Myers played on special teams last week despite not being listed on the depth chart

- Julius Pierce, J’shun Bodiford, and De’Arre McDonald are both not listed after getting banged up last week.

- Simon Wilson slides over to guard as expected. Morgan Scott steps into the starting RT job for Bodiford… Jalen Jackson steps in for McDonald.

- Holden Willis listed as sole starter at tight end

Dart, Ole Miss passing attack poses enormous challenge for MTSU defense

Agreed, something that I think will go unnoticed but could be something to monitor is Mason’s success against Kiffin.

DM is 3-1 against Lane and has held him to 20 or less points in two games including 2021. When Mason was at Auburn, and one could argue they had a better QB (Matt Corral) than Jaxson Dart.

That being said, I still don’t think they can hold up against the Ole Miss offense for four quarters.
